I have a mobileme account so I have access to mobileme web galleries. I notice that ALOT of people use flickr, and I want to see if I can somehow integrate it into my life, but I want to make sure that it’s not a repetitive application (mobileme web gallery). Also how do you use flickr? And why is it a useful application? Thanks.

because it’s awesome
beautiful interface, groups, get connected to other photographers. etc.
here’s mine hehe
I can’t imagine not using Flickr! It’s awesome for someone who is into photography!
I use flickr to how off my work
I join groups and follow threads about lenses and techniques, as well as business aspects.
I also link photos from flickr to my blog. Blogger desaturates photos so posting the HTML link from flickr helps me preserve quality.
Plus I use flickr on my iPhone through the mobile app. Flickr recently came out with a iPhone app but I find it slow and not as useful.
Having your work on Flickr can get you exposure. I’ve had various emails asking to publish my photos, which I think is awesome. I almost made $150 from Microsoft to use a photo on their student portal, but in the end, they chose not to use it so I didn’t get paid. So close, so close.
It’s part social networking, part web gallery. Loads of features, nifty interface, tons of groups to join, friends to be had. You can be as social or antisocial as you like, though joining groups will get more people looking at your photos and potentially more feedback.
Flickr’s great.. can’t wait till I can afford to reinstate my Pro account.
Thank you for all of the answers everyone! I am not a professional photographer or anything, and I post my photos onto a tumblr blog. What is flickr good for other than exposure?
Its good for networking with other photographers, and being able to share photos a little more easily than with your mobileme gallery. You can make and receive comments on photos, which is nice.
For me it is just a handy way to share photos online, and it is free.
The site is really simple to use. If you buy a pro account, you can also post short videos.
To share pictures n comments…
and it has beautiful interface
