I need FAST HELP ABOUT A FLIGHT!

Asked by deni (23141points) October 27th, 2009

I’m flying into denver tomorrow. im supposed to get there at 2. i just found out they have a winter storm warning and are supposed to get about 5 inches of snow right around when i’ll be coming in. is it likely that my flight will be cancelled? i dont know how often they cancel flights due to snow or how much has to accumulate for there to be delays or whatever….and i dont know if i should try to change flights or what, and i dont have very much time to decide. any input would be really really greatly appreciated.

I live over by the airport. I don’t think that your fight will be canceled. Your flight may be delayed, but it is very rare, that the city and the airport stops all operations. But if you are concerned, mabey you should catch an earlier flight. The Storm warnings are predicted to be in effect around midnight tonight.

just go. and keep in touch with the airline they’ll let you know what to expect

Also, to check out local weather condition, go to 9news.com and go to the weather section.

I agree with @brinibear There is a storm on the way, but you really shouldn’t be worried also do what @trailsillustrated said. Make sure you bring your heavy coat, gloves, and snow boots. It is going to be a cold one. Be over prepared, and not under prepared. Have fun, and enjoy the snow. I’m expecting half a foot of snow where I live at. YAY! I gonna make a snowman.

It tales a lot of snow to close dia. For better or worse, you should be more concerned about driving around once you get there. If you’re renting a car, it may be pretty slippery.

Most airlines offer some sort of service to track your flights, some will even email or text you updates as the airlines learn of them. So, before you head off to the airport, call your airline and check on your flight (should be an automated service). If it doesn’t say it’s canceled or delayed, you should be good, at least to head to the airport. Things could change in the 30–60 minutes it takes you to get there, but that’s doubtful.

If your flight does get canceled, which I doubt it will because the destination is Denver and 5” of snow is not very much, the airline will book you on a later flight at no charge.

Id say see if you can get an earlier flight, but if not, dont fret. Airports are businesses too, they will do all they can to keep you happy and on time.

@Mamradpivo Good point. If you do get a rental, check the tires to make sure they are properly inflated and have good tred.

Gracias everybody. I feel I may have overrreacted but after I realized the only way I was getting an earlier flight was for 200 more dollars, I soon decided to just let the flight I have play out and am kinda doubting that it will even be delayed because as you guys said, 5 inches or so isn’t that much. On the bright side I can’t WAIT TO HAVE SNOW!!!
