Are there interest-cliques in fluther?
I’ve gotten to recognize a lot of fellow jellies and had some good conversations with a lot of you. But I realize part of that is because we share common interests and show up at the same kinds of questions. Which makes me wonder, could there be significant amounts of content and jellies that I never encounter? As we pontificate about sex and religion over here is there another segment of fluther debating the moral implications of Highschool Musical 2 and the aesthetic merit of Newtonian physics?
How much is the fluther community broken up by interest? I’m not missing anything good am I?

Yes, and I would be part of the smartass comment clique.
I am part of the I know everything about everything and don’t hesitate to tell you so clique. We are a very small and annoying group.
There are no official groups or cliques – it’s one of the things I like about Fluther.
There’s always comraderie between certain jellies of like mind (some may see this as cliquey) – but it’s not impenetrable, permanent or official in any way.
I will say, somewhat off the record, that there’s a group of jellies who really enjoy pancakes.
Well, I tend to answer questions in my area of knowledge (and those that I have strong feelings about, which sadly does not equate to knowledge). I suppose that could seem cliquish.
I believe there are people who I almost never interact with because we like different topics. I tend to avoid computer questions and questions about specific musicians or computers or software.
Like @daloon I don’t answer/comment on computer questions, but that doesn’t mean if the topic sets an interest in my, I don’t read them.
Many times I do more reading of the discussions a opposed to getting into them. However, there are some strong opinions that come out every so often.
I don’t see cliques here, only many jellies with lots ‘o knowledge!
Fluther covers a lot of different types of questions and we all choose which ones to answer or ask based on our particular interests, so it is likely to be seeing a lot of sme people and rarely coming across others, even if they are active participants. This is quite natural. It would be neat if someone actually did a study based on this to see the different types of clusters that form.
I suggest joining the “Everyone loves delirium” clique. Talk to johnpowell… He runs it.
No, I think the use of the word clique indicates a closed or exclusive group, and I haven’t seen that here.
Del doesn’t lie. She is fantastic.
To paraphrase Groucho Marx on this topic: “I wouldn’t be a part of any clique that would have me.”
