If there was a Fluther get-together (in the real world), would you go?
Would you go to meet your fellow jellies, or would you prefer to keep your virtual fluther friendships as is?

Assuming it would be in CA, probably not.
I don’t feel nearly attached enough to most people I interact with online to have any interest in meeting them. As of now there is one person I have dealt with on Fluther I would be even vaguely interested in meeting.
and no, I won’t tell you who or why
Based on the number of users that are in California, I’m guessing it would be held there. That wouldn’t be too far of a trip for me, so I would consider going. There are definitely some jellies who I would love to meet in real life.
I recently met-up with one local Jelly, @janbb; and I would Lurve to meet more of you!
.
@J0E: I first read your response as:
”Assuming it would be in the CIA…”!!
I don’t really feel like flying to the other side of the world to get dickpunched.
This question has been asked a million times.
Yes, i would.
If it was somewhere near NY I might.
As long as I can only identify myself with my Fluther name and wear a mask.
of course
it’s an unbelievable chance to get to meet a lot of special, smart people
Sure, if it was fairly local, and providing that __________, _______________, and _________ weren’t there. Dealing with them in person would be a nightmare. It’s bad enough dealing with them on here.
The real world?...
…Oh, yea! Almost forgot about that place. Too much fluthering.
If there was a get-together near me, heck yeah, I’d go. :)
I would. I went to the tenth anniversary of metafilter party in Portland and it was a blast. There were people I had insane arguments with in the past there but we got along just fine in real life.
Allie and I actually thought about doing a little version of The Amazing Race and it would be like a meet-up. It would be from Sacramento to SF and take place over a weekend. Teams of Jellies would race and compete during the day and get drunk at night.
No. There’s something about sharing your opinions and thoughts with people you don’t know. I don’t want to give that up.
Yes, as long as I don’t have to look at or talk to anyone.
@Psychedelic_Zebra
Dealing with people in person is easier than dealing with them online. People are never as big of dicks when you can actually see them.
Can we fly people from overseas to the party? If so yes. If no….hmmm…I dunno. I don’t get many vacations. Are you people interesting enough to meet and mingle with in real life? Or do you save your snark for Fluther?
Maybe. I think it would be interesting to see if interactions would change after encountering each other in the real world.
@tinyfaery – and how many “Remove ___________ from your fluther” there would be the next day! ;)
@SpatzieLover I for one am not nearly as interesting in person. I come off much better when I have time to think about what I’m going to say.
It’d likely be awkward on an epic scale.
Absolutely….if it’s a reasonable distance. Besides, I’m not exactly anonymous, anymore, so I have no concern with protecting my identity and really have nothing to hide (well, maybe my drugs, if you are a cop). See ya…Gary/wtf
@tinyfaery…..Hey neighbor, someday, we’ll test your point and see what the impact is of really meeting. Do you like Mexican/Cuban/Carribean food?
No. I would bet that the reality would take some of the fun away from this site, which is, after all, about fantasy much of the time.
MIlo here; If you send the private jet, I would attend.
Milo here; Frank, you’re not half bad. How long have you had your pilot’s licence (and do you text/nap while flying)?
I probably would if it were within a 12 hr driving distance and I had the time off. I had the good fortune to meet several oustanding members of another social site and have no regrets, some of them I consider friends now rather than acquaintances.
No, don’t think I would.
I met one of my former favorite internet friends a while ago, and it sucked. I prefer to keep my opinions of you people totally based on what you write on here, and few FB profiles, thank you very much.
You bet. There’s some on here who I’d LOVE to meet. Others…no way. I can’t stand them on here, let alone meet them in person! I’d need name tags (if I didn’t know what they looked like)
@jbfletcherfan I’d need avatar photo tags…or I’d be the idiot sitting in the corner not participating!
LOL, yeah, that’d work, too
@jbfletcherfan Yuppers! and, then I’d inevitably be shocked at those who I thought were opposite the gender they really are!
Oh, I know. Half the time on here I can’t tell one way or the other. I think the profiles should have to state.
No, I wouldn’t. I enjoy the mystery.
It’s funny you should ask, because I am hosting a Fluther Party in April in the Sacramento area, and everyone is welcome. The date is yet to be decided, but the motel has been chosen. To be placed on the notification list, just join the Fluther Users Meetup group.
This is a user created party and not an official Fluther activity.
Absolutely… in fact there was a discussion about this in camp fire before in which a bunch of us were actually planing what we then called “Fluther-Con” or a fluther meet-up in las vegas… never got off the ground though.
Only if it is clothing-optional.
@Grisaille I would be happy to help you coordinate a private room for you and your clothing-optional friends. I’ve done it before.
It seems that my joke has taken a tragic turn for the worse.
@YARNLADY: April is a lovely month in Sac. and I’d love to get out there, team up with ru2bz46 and see some fluther folk :)
Only if I knew AstroChuck was going to be there.
@AstroChuck – Do you think he would go…I mean, if he knew you might be there?
@forestGeek- I would think so but you tell me. I mean you know him better than I do.
I think it would be fun to see all the people pointing and whispering when I walked into the room, and to overhear, “Look, it’s that <expletive deleted> prick Zebra whatsisname!”
@Psychedelic_Zebra….From me they would hear, “pardon me for a moment….I’m going to go get me a big zebra hug.” See ya…Gary/wtf
If it were close enough to me, I’d do it in a heartbeat. I have met mcbealer IRL, and would like to meet other mid-atlantic jellies.
@augustlan: I’m all for a Mid-Atlantic Fluther-Con!
I am on another social site, and a bunch of us are traveling from all over to Florida in January for a get-together. I’m so psyched! When I have my dates, I will check to see who from Fluther lives in Florida to see if they might want to meetup on another day.
