As it gets later and later on Halloween, will you start giving away more pieces of candy to each trick-or-treater?

I ususally wait for the last few stragglers, then give them all that’s left.
Fuck, 3:53PM here. I should head to the store.
I usually do it opposite. I give out handfuls starting from the beginning just because we don’t get many trick-or-treaters. Then when I run out I shut off the light and call it quits. But if there is a big group at the end I have to give less than handful to stretch it out to the remaining kids.
I certainly don’t want to keep all that candy for myself, lol.
johnpowell is so going to get egged.
I tend to give out more as I get tired and want to go inside and turn the porch light off. However, if all that is left is the good stuff, I just pack it in and go inside anyway.
I don’t have high hopes for tonight because it is already 6 pm and not a single Trick or Treater has emerged anywhere along the street.
Same as redpowerlady, we don’t get too many. I do try to make sure there us some letfovers ;)
I used to just take leftovers to work, where they would be vacuumed up in short order. Now I am careful to buy varieties that the candy eaters at my house don’t mind helping out with.
dang all this talking about candy is making me eat some….........
We get whole families coming by without costumes and holding pillowcases open. They come in carloads before it even gets dark.
@XOIIO That better not be more candy!
We got a whopping 5 trick-or-treaters. That’s one less than last year. I gave all of them 3 Nestle crunch crispy bars and a sucker. Anyone want some candy?
However, to answer the question, yes, I was a “give away more at the end” kind of giver.
@tedibear39 halloween is already over for you? hasn’t even started yet here
ps don’t mention giving away candy, i might eat it all, hehe
Well, we bought full-sized candy bars in bulk, and I’m pretty sure that the law sides with parents who press criminal charges against those who distribute multiple full-sized candy bars at a time, so I think my unfortunate coworkers will be suffering my excesses this year.
that’s when I start jettisoning last years lollies, that treat bag I got at some retreat, that vanlentines box I got and shoved in the closet…oh what year was that
@Jeruba wow, without costumes? They wouldn’t get any candy from me. If they’re not going to put any effort into it, then why should I?
@RedPowerLady – eastern time zone. Trick or treat was from 5:30 to 7:00 in our little town. Here, have a blackberry blow-pop.
I´m going to a concert tonight so all i´m doing is following advice from a previous thread… i´m putting an empty bowl on a stool outside the front door with a sign that says “please take only one”.
@Dr_C, that’s gone by the time the first kids without parents arrive.
A lot of folks tonight specified “You can take three pieces” to my son. I thought that made sense, as not a ton of trick or treaters come around and three small pieces of candy is quite generous.
I had people dumping candy in his bag, because of the rain starting and lack of trickers. I would give lots of candy if I was in an area of little to none ToT’s as well.
We pass out packs of powdered hot chocolate, one per person only. I have 35 left out of a box of 60. My family will finish it off over the next couple of months.
@Jeruba I bet there will be some people selling candy at the swap meet next week-end.
We did better than last year but not as good as the year before in terms of how many kids in costumes came by. However, one bunch of boys figured out where I had the stash of unopened candy for refilling the kettle and stole an entire bag of chocolate candy.
Ironically enough, one was dressed as a prisoner and the other as a cop.
However, the weather was perfect and it was a lovely night to sit outside and read in between trick-or-treaters. There were also some adorable little kids and not very many older teens.
[After midnight] Hmm, very few trick-or-treaters tonight, probably not more than two dozen. And no women with pillowcases either. Sometimes there’s an off year; there were lots last time. I don’t know what that signifies.
I do give out more candy to get rid of it later. I got tired of being out there handing out candy. Usually we run out anyway, but it was raining and the third game of the World Series was on, so no one was out, anyway.
We also get a lot of adults without costumes. When we first lived here, that bothered me, but now we account for that. Don’t sweat the small stuff.
