What is the strangest thing you've ever thrown in a pot roast?

Over the years I’ve perfected my pot roast. It’s to die for. My most recent addition (about 10 years ago) was tomatoes at my four year old grandson’s request. I thought it was weird, but complied…and the was the best culinary move I’ve ever made! Can’t do pot roast without it!
Well, started some today…had some still-fresh left over Portabella (sp?) mushroom in the fridge. Threw them in….I’m not sure this was a good thing! I guess I’ll find out.
So what experiments have you ever tried, and did they work or did they crash and burn?

Chocolate.
I will sometimes add cocoa powder or dark chocolate to meat dishes that I am also adding chili powder or chili peppers too.
French’s French Fried Onions.
okay, so I am not so exotic
Leeks! It wasn’t totally strange but it added a nice dimension.
Traditionally, the “nice” brisket that Jewish grandmothers made had gingersnaps in them.
I have added whiskey to a beef roast once. Good stuff!
@wilma and @pinkparaluies Um, thanks for the dinner invites, but I just remembered something I have to do on that night. Go to the bathroom, or something. Sorry.
@filmfann I could live with that! I think….?
@gailcalled Gingersnaps? I’m gettin some unusual answers!
@judochop Whiskey maybe not bad. I use beer for grilling and breads and stuff…
Cumin. Though I’m not sure that that’s exactly strange.
sour grapes (unripened)
Actually, traditional ingredient in Persian cuisine, so not unusual to them. Very good, extra tartness for the sauce.
I’ve heard of throwing in a can of coke, but I’ve never done it.
chopped jalapenos. I put jalapenos in/on just about everything, except ice cream.
@wilma Ever had Mole? Chocolate in pot roast sounds good :)
@wilma I thought that might be the case :)
