Jeruba has brought something interesting to my attention in this question and I’m interested to know if others have certain words they use sparingly or maybe even on special occasions.
Please provide definitions and pronunciation help if possible.

Bumblebee tuna! (Bumbawe Atuna)
jedenfalls- German for ‘in any case’. It’s my favorite word so I use it sparingly. Don’t wanna wear it out too soon.
If I’m in a mean Lisa Lampanelli mood, “douchecock.” Very special occasions for very special people and used very sparingly.
It is a disgusting word and it kinda grosses me out to think about it, but damn, it just fits sometimes.
lol.
Pandiculate. I was so happy when I learned there was a word to describe the thing I do when I get out of bed every morning.
And chthonic. I don’t know of any other words offhand that begin with a silent c (and a silent h).
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
“Plaaaa!”
Inside joke, don’t ask…
Phantasmagoria
–noun
1. a shifting series of phantasms, illusions, or deceptive appearances, as in a dream or as created by the imagination.
2. a changing scene made up of many elements.
3. an optical illusion produced by a magic lantern or the like in which figures increase or diminish in size, pass into each other, dissolve, etc.
I only bring this word out for Halloween.
@nxknxk, cthonic is one of my favorite words of all time!
I’m kind of pretentious, so no words are off-limits in everyday conversation.
@Haleth : Either you are or are not pretentious. “Kind of pretentious” has no meaning,
pretentionswise.
