Why do people always say “they” should do this or “they” should make that. Who do you think “they” are, some sort if group who controlls everything? And don’t tell me “the Sony Corp” or “the government” when you didn’t say this in the first place. Who are “they” and where are they hiding????

In that sense “they” refers to whoever is in charge of, or whoever isn’t part of “us”
This is a problem a lot of people have. I think most people assume it is the government that should do everything.
a secret group known as The Pentaverate.
I use it to mean ‘they’ who are not part of ‘us’ (the people in the conversation).
Whoever they are, they’re not us. That’s all that matters!

The Man.
The Non-self.
The amorphous and anthropomorphous visions of bureaucracies and systems and the people therewithin.
So I have no idea.
They is anyone who isn’t me! And they are usually the enemy.
In my house, “they” is “somebody”. As in “somebody” forgot to let the dog back in. Or “somebody” didn’t put their plate in the dishwasher.
I’m guessing “they” live with “somebody” “someplace” other than in my home ;D
They is a short Reference to a Group of Objects or People already named prior in the Text so that one does not have to write out the Names over and over again.
When I write a piece about “the siblings Billy Bob, Billy Ray, Bobby Joe, Mary Sue, Randa Lynn and Vicky Lynn” who constantly partake in mass incest then I don’t want to write out their names everytime my sentence needs a reference to ‘them’, and instead write the short “they” or “them”.
I could tell you, but then I’d have to kill you.~
@ragingloli I’ve got to read that piece one of these days.
