What do you think when you hear this news about London taking the #1 spot as the worlds top financial center?

Asked by JLeslie (65790points) November 3rd, 2009

Most notably NYC fell to third place from first, and Australia jumped nine places up to second. See article http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33592580/ns/business-businessweekcom/

It proves people love accents when talking about money.

(Oh, and I understood that Amsterdam also dropped two places or so. Guess that’s too bad. Or something.)

I think maybe it’‘s time we Americans get over the notion that we are the center of the universe.

I don’t care one way or the other.
I guess that means I don’t think I’m the center of the universe.

Not entirely surprising actually, but this “title” will probably go back and forth. The EU is the biggest economy in the world though. Makes me also wonder when the UK will join the €uro. I suspect that they probably will be the last to join.

Aint we something, Britain is like the top floor, it’s great, we’ve virtually retired :) of course if the peasants doing the manual stuff, belly ache and get all uppity we still have the other great British institution…To um…keep the peace :)

Old news, it has held the top spot many times and recently too especially when you take into account there are more than one index of these things that measure them by slightly different criteria.
