i work for local government and our labor union has once again waited until the last minute to tell us who they endorse. one of my coworkers said it is because they get paid by the politicians to endorse them and that takes place at the last minute. i would not doubt that the unions get paid off for their endorsements. i am wondering if this is something other flutherites are aware of, or is it just a rumor?

Actually, I’m pretty sure the Pope doesn’t shit in the woods…. I think that saying is suppose to be about bears shitting in the woods.
Anyways, I am sure it has happened before but to assume it happens all the time is a little pessimistic I think. I think its a political risk to get caught paying off a labor union. But it happens from time to time.
@LKidKyle1985 That little phrase about the Pope was meant to amuse, as it conflates two cliches: Is the Pope Catholic, and Does a Bear Shit in the Woods. See? A joke. If you are still having difficulty understanding, PM me and I will be pleased to try to help.
The unions get paid, but not with money. With promises of legislation.
And once the Union likes you, they pay your campaign big bucks.
I am very active in my union and regularly give contributions to our political action committee (COLCPE). I’ve also worked call centers for candidates that we support because the membership has voted to give them that support. We only back candidates who are labor friendly and who support issues beneficial to the postal service and it’s bargaining employees. Those candidates receive contributions (monetary and volunteers services) from our PAC as well as personal monies from our members. It’s not the other way around, at least not with our union, the NALC.
