I don’t think that lung, throat, esophageal or tongue cancer differentiates.
…...............both is good for you
Menthols have properties that make them worse. I don’t remember why, but I remember reading it somewhere. I’ll try and look it up… or maybe someone else knows!
It depends on my much you inhale and how long you hold it in. A marlboro light could be worse than a marlboro red if you inhale it deeper and hold it longer. Most smokers when stepping down from full flavor to lights don’t really inhale less bad stuff because they inhale deeper and longer and longer when smoking lights.
Depends. Which type of lung cancer would you like?
if you want to quit smoking let me know
Definitely menthols. Marlboro menthols are what I started on BTW.
Thankfully, I managed to quit successfully earlier this year.
Of the friends I have who cannot quit no matter how hard/what methods they’ve tried, 80% of them are menthol smokers. That tells me something, others may think it a pure coincidence.
To everyone who is giving answers that say smoking is bad in some way, I know it is, but it does not answer my question, so please no more of it.
In addition I only smoke recreationally.
They are both make of tobacco and you inhale the smoke. There is no difference in the long run.
All cigarettes are bad for you. Period. That answers your question. I don’t think you’re going to get the answer you’re hoping for. Sounds to me like you are looking for a justification to keep smoking.
The ones you light on one end and stick in your mouth.
All, all, all, alll, all!!!!!!!!!!! I have lost too many people whom I care for, including my mother to lung cancer to think that smoking is ok. Not only the health factor, the tast and the smell is terrible.
I am not trying to justify it, I am not denying anything. I was just curious because I was thinking menthols are a bit worse, but I wasn’t sure. I know all are bad for you.
Kiddo, stop now. Recreational smoking is loads of fun until you get addicted. I know you think you’re stronger than that and you’re the exception to the rule, but sometimes part of being a teenager is learning that you’re not smarter than everyone older than you.
I started when I was 14 and wasn’t addicted for about 2 years. Thought I was beating the system. Turns out, the system was built to win.
Stop smoking, start running. Really.
All of them, for pete’s sake!!!
Well there was a time when i used to smoke much more than I do now. Where I now have one a day, I used to smoke much more than that a day, yet I never had a a desire to smoke to get a fix or because I felt the need. Just socially.
They’re all equally bad and unhealthy.
Unpopular opinion alert!
I smoke every once in a while, at the bar (I seldom go) or at a party. Since I don’t drink all that much and tend to only smoke when I’ve been drinking quite a bit, I smoke recreationally but don’t run a risk of getting addicted because I don’t touch them outside of very set circumstances. That being said, I smoke three cigarettes a month doing this at the most, not one a day. The only other time I have smoked is during finals but I’m not in school now, so its not necessary. Even then it was about five or six over the course of finals week.
Once a day is courting addiction, NOT smoking recreationally.
I see your point, but due to the fact that I used to smoke Alot more than one a day I disagree. But either way, it doesnt answer my question, my question was which is worse.
Not only the ones YOU smoke, but the ones others smoke around you.
Psssttt @mineown, I already answered the question.
@mineown: You have gotten the correct answer several times. And you don’t need to keep repeating your self-justification. We understood that the first time.
I realize I got an answer. And once again, I am not justifying anything. I am saying that as of now I am not addicted. But if the answer has been given then why keep attacking me?
Because you keep repeating and repeating and repeating (like the Energizer bunny). No one is attacking you; if you decided that an occasional recreational pinch of arsenic is fun, we might have similar responses. Look up “defensiveness” and then take a long walk in the country.
@mineown If you’re not addicted then why not quit while you still can? I can’t understand why anybody (knowing damn well the long term effects of smoking) would start these days. It just doesn’t make sense to me.
trust yourself when you say i am god , but don’t trust yourself when you say i will not get addicted.
The reason I smoke sometimes is because it surrounds me. My dad smokes cigars and my best friends eventually started smoking. And as for quitting, before I came to college I got rid of everything smokable I had without regret, hesitation, or worry. The reason I picked it back up in college is that everyone on my floor smokes and its a social matter.
@mineown You’re really only smoking because everyone else does? That sounds silly. Doesn’t it? I just can’t resist this one…If all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you do it too?
if so many people are trying to tell you stay away from smoking without any selfish reason .. i think you are a fool if you don’t listen to them.
I actually did jump off a bridge once. lol Me and my friend Zack whos dad is my dads best friends and they are like cigar buddies.
Actually I was not bungee jumping. I was freefalling. What is Blus?
I’d already written it once you posted u_u
Electric cigarettes. All the fun, less of the painful horrifying death.
I got your point, but it was an opportunity for a joke. lol. Cause we jumped off a bridge and it was fun. Also, no damage was done. lol but putting that aside I get your point.
@mineown: The second-hand smoke on your corridor is lethal, also. Why not request a room or floor change? No one should be forced to hang around smokers. And if they are heavy smokers, you should look for new friends in any case.
Just be sure to either :
1) Always (I mean ALWAYS) throw your cigarette butt into a proper receptacle
or…
2) Use filterless cigarettes
Smokers that don’t do this deserve cancer.
They do not smoke in the room, just outside. And where I live is a very convenient place on campus.
Methols. I’ve heard they have fiberglass in them. Really. (Thats what I used to smoke)
By the way. I’m surprised I’m the only one that really answered the question lol
@pinkparaluies , i never heard of that about menthols (although there have been observations about other dangers).
Kent brand cigarettes did contain asbestos in their so-called Microlite filters, for several years.
Actually I have heard about the fiberglass several times. I’m pretty sure it is true. And with any cigarette one must make sure to smoke it only to the eighth line from the filter.
@JONESGH you are technically right about that probably. I’ve lost people to it as most of us have. But the sentiment of hatred I expressed is in direct proportion to the stupidity and carelessness of, and damage caused by litterers.
Depends on the disease you are more or less likely to get. Some brands and ingredients increase your chances of becoming impotent. Others will increase your chances of getting a foot amputated. How about a heart attack? Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease?
Which disease do you want to avoid most?
The Marlboro reds have 1.2 mg of nicotine and the Marlboro menthols have 1.1 of nicotine. The nicotine in the cigarettes always equals the amount of tar in the cigarettes. The tar is what gets into your lungs and stays there.
Menthols are really a non issue in terms of if it is bad for you. So to answer your question the Marlboro Reds are slightly worse for you because of the nicotine content and tar.
Going to a lower nicotine level slowly would be “better” like you could go to a Marlboro King Filter HP Medium (king is the short pack) which are .9 and start to slowly detoxify yourself from the higher nicotine brand.
