Has the creation of new awards influenced the way you fluther?

Has it changed the way you ask or answer questions? Have you increased the volume of answers you give? how about lurve? Is the fact that certain contributions may win you awards driving you to change your fluthering style? to be honest I don’t think many people will admit to it but i would think it applies to at least some

Nah, it hasn’t changed anything for me… I’m not a big fan of the awards. I don’t hate them or anything, just meh. So I ignore them.
Not the slightest.
Edit: That’s not entirely true. I did go after the Pilgrim Award. I liked the mystery.
Nope. I will admit that I “gave” someone an award by upping their 19 GA’s to 20 GA’s. But it was a good answer, I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t like the answer. Other than that, no, it hasn’t changed anything.
I was trying to be more active before they came out anyway. I do enjoy getting them though.
Nope, not at all. It’s fun, but that’s it. I really don’t want the quality of Fluther to drop, so I definitely won’t contribute to something that might make that happen.
no I’m still trying to figure out what they are
Yup. For the first 24 hours I forgot I was a mod and went on a treasure hunt.
(Sorry @Augustlan)
Not really in terms of what I do, but I do like to look at what they’re for when I see that I’ve got a new one. I think it’s fun! I also sought out the Pilgrim award, merely because then I wanted some in every color category and I’m a little bit obsessive like that. And getting there was fun, so I don’t think it was a bad thing. :)
I’ve only just returned so I’m not sure I’m with it yet…
@Dog I knew i could count on you! Lurve you!
@Dr_C You said to be honest. I cannot resist a good puzzle! :)
No, though I sometimes check to see what awards they are when someone gets one.
After seeking the Pilgrim award, I’ve been too busy to worry about the rest of them.
I was momentarily more aggressive in my answering in order to obtain the Sea-Cheetah. I will hunt a badge if I find it shiny enough. But afterward everything returns to normal.
Also, since I am new, the past couple of days have been kind of exciting and I was more active.
That’s about it.
I’m just trying not to let the mis-award of Frizzer Cake the other day bother me.
I’ve had a couple people PM me and ask how I got a certain award, but I don’t even know how! :P
@robmandu i still don’t know why mine was taken away… and figure i must not have earned it. Wonder how you go about getting that one…
@DominicX: Same! I have no idea why I was awarded the Perfecto-Fish one. :P
I don’t really pay much attention to them. It’s not why I come here, but it is kinda fun.
They matter not to me. I’m not paying any attention to them. I don’t quite see the purpose of it. More competition crap. What good does it all do? That’s one reason I left Askville. I’d hate to see this place turn into the same mess.
I thought it was nice because I thought a certain someone had disrespected me on here and it was a way to make me feel better about myself…and then i realised I didn’t need it.. because people missed me anyway from the private messages I received… so it’s nice but not as nice as you guys xxxx
Went on a treasure hunt. Whenever a new batch is released, I start hunting them down.
Usually failing in the process.
I thoroughly enjoyed them when they were new yesterday, figured a few of them out, and now its back to business as usual.
I’ll admit, I posted knowing I’d get an award or two. Shut up! I know others did it too!
Yes, I’ve turned into a ravenous lurve monster. I want the shiny stuff, and not being able to figure out what they mean so that I may get them all is making me sad.
Nice to look at but I act the same and see if my behavior results in any.
Not really. I kind of think they’re… odd.
It hasn’t changed much for me, although I did set out to get that Frizzer award back after I “lost” it. There are a few that drive me crazy wondering what they are, but I keep hoping I’ll luck out and earn one without putting in the effort. Wow, that says a lot about my character…so sad…
I ran around getting the secret awards. I did a lot to get those, but the rest will come in their own time as I continue using the site.
I did, when I got a tip, work on discovering the one award that I did. But that’s the only one that I ran after other than the secret ones.
I had some free time one day, so I tried to figure out the Robot Crush award; but beyond that my Fluthering habits are unchanged.
I love knowing I am only 1 of 60 Perfecto Fish (only found out today) at least I think I do, I don’t actually know what entitled me to the honour, still that just adds to the fun I reckon
@Adagio- I have that one too, and I don’t know why
@hearkat Doesn’t that one mean you’ve never been modded?
It hasn’t influenced me at all.
The only thing I did to “cheat” was get the dang Cake in the Frizzer award. Only because I had it and then they took it away, weep. Also I had visited necessary answers anyhow in relation to that particular award. Oh and I kinda cheated the Robot Crush in the sense I didn’t figure it out myself. Also, I had others help me figure out what the awards were but that didn’t make me try and get them or change my Fluther techniques. I just wanted to know and it was a kinda fun game. But my regular fluthering hasn’t changed wait didn’t I say that several times already? I feel the need to emphasize that, lol
I pay absolutely no attention to the awards. I don’t know what awards I, or anyone else, have. I don’t even care. They are a useless part of the site for me. If they made more awards, took awards away, or changed “awards” to “bananafish,” I would fluther the same way as I always have.
Sounds like ^^ someone ^^ needs a grumpyfish award.
Nope – I find the awards a little puerile and demeaning – at least since they took my Cake in the Frizzer Award back! Now, lurve – that’s another story!
I answered a question when I wouldn’t have if it wouldn’t have gotten me the Exhibitionist award. Otherwise, no.
Not fully. Sometimes during the day, when I run out of stuff to do, I might try to get an additional one just for fun, but mostly not.
Nope. Although when I get an announcement that I’ve won something, I think, “Oooh! Neat!”
It’s kind of annoying because people are talking about something I know nothing about. I don’t want to know anything about it, either. But since there’s so much chatter about it, I’m afraid I may have to learn about it, so I can understand. I really don’t want to do that.
Somedays it doesn’t get to me. But days like today, I’m an award finding machine. I can’t stop! I’m not leaving this site until I figure out how to get Robot Crush!
And this is me already
Determination is key.
@daloon – I’m with you, I don’t get it. I had a cake in the frizzer then it was rescinded. I don’t know how it got there and I don’t know why it went away.
Is there some explanation somewhere???
@janbb & @RedPowerLady – well I am pleased to learn I was not the only one slighted in the cake in the frizzer award. When it happened, I felt so violated.
@rooeytoo The same thing happened to me. I got a PM saying a glitch had given that award to people who hadn’t actually qualified, which is why it was taken away. I was told to do the “same thing” and see if the award came back. It didn’t. It took me a while, but I got it back and am not really sure how.
I’m hoping someone will get me the Cake int the Frizzer award for Christmas. Possibly as a stocking stuffer.
I value good debates more than awards.
@mattbrowne Ah, such a noble sentiment, but isn’t it also the case that many times the promise of an award will increase the chances that good debates will occur?
What I have found that is interesting is that most of the awards are ones that most normal users will earn just participating on Fluther.
I like the awards just because some of them have clever names. Riddles and clues aren’t my strong point though, so I have a feeling there are some awards I’ll never earn. If I do earn them, I’ll never figure out how.
@YARNLADY – Awards can be valuable too. If you value X more than Y, this doesn’t mean Y has no value. My point is people should be focused on what they do and be passionate about it. In many companies there are people who are more focused on getting a promotion than their actual work. If you do great work and do it passionately very often this eventually leads to a promotion. In my opinion an overemphasis of awards, trophies, titles, certificates, medals, badges, pins, ribbons – even lurve – is not beneficial. I still recognize the value. We should have all that. Fluther should have all that. But we should keep things in perspective.
Yes. I went looking for Oliver Twist. I wanted to have a rare award that would be pretty easy to get without months of brilliant posting.
I’m pretty sure I know how I got perfecto-fish. If anyone knows how to get frizzer cake I may be willing to trade secrets? Is that allowed?
Ok, I have to admit that I spent some time last night in pursuit of my lost frizzer cake award. I got that sucker back! Whoo hoo!
No, awards mean zilch to my Fluther habit.
@bagelface @Dr_C Sorry, but no can do. You’re gonna’ have to work at it! :P
I accidentally figured it out yesterday. lol
Oh look at what we have here. Apparently I just found my Cake in the Frizzer, too.
Mmmm, you can still taste the mylar!
I finally found it too… still cold!
What’s all this about Cake in the Frizzer? Had it, lost it…....
Cake in the frizzer? Ice cream cake…?
@mattbrowne Your point that we must keep it in perspective is correct as long a “we” equals the people who will carry on a discussion even without the “awards”. However for the “we” who need further incentive, the award program takes on a higher value.
Yea! And I am one of only 54 users who currently have Feeding frenzy.
Cake in the frizzer is the ultimate Fluther inside joke.
No, but it IS a challenge for me to figure out how you can get the awards, and I like that, but it isn’t affecting the way I ask or answer questions.
No, though the number of times I’ve been awarded the Perfecto-Fish has begun to make me a bit self-conscious.
@wildpotato We true “perfecto-fishes” don’t need the award. :-)
I do find myself with an eye on the awards list though! Not just for me, but if I give someone a GA (Choke!) I check to make sure it shows up for them, and when I see them, it makes me feel good. (I’m the one who just gave Chuckie the Good Answer award! :)
Is the “Cake in the Frizzer” award possible to even get? they have archived the question pertaining to it.
So how does one get it? I’m not able to comment on that question anymore…
:) Logic says that if the award is still obtainable and the question is closed that the key to getting the award does not lie in simply posting... :)
Your logic, doggie, is incontrovertible.
I have to be- or I will have to mod myself again. ;)
I’ve done just about everything I could possibly do on that questions page…I’m running out of ideas here… haha
@RandomMrdan I think she’s trying to tell you it’s not on that page.
No, no. It is on that page. But answering is not the answer. ;)
Might I venture to add that some awards are not earned from one simple action.
Man, I have that stupid award and still don’t know how to get it. XD
I thought I had an idea the other day…but I won’t know for some time yet…I’ve not got it though…the award that is

I’ve got to say i spent a few days looking for the elusive cake, darting around articles like a goon. So decided to give up and go in hunt of the pilgrim award instead, then I clicked on something, somewhere and apparently i’ve been awarded it.
The only logical conclusion I can draw from this is…
stop looking for it, then it will find you.
I’m actively hunting the cake in the frizzer award, but I don’t know if that means I’m really fluthering differently…
