What are the best places to watch the sunset in Houston, TX?

Asked by La_chica_gomela (12594points) November 4th, 2009

I mean specifics, not just “Galveston” or “a tall building”. Give me something good like the observation deck of the Chase Building (which is out because it closes at 5:00 pm, and even on the shortest nights of the year, sunset here is around 5:30.

I’ve seen also this: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080210010148AANs2pz, already, by the way. I’m inside the loop, so none of those places really did anything for me.

Thanks!

Jeez, I don’t have a clue, I was only ever in Houston one time and it was so humid, I didn’t breathe through my nose the entire time. Not that it has anything to do with sunsets.

But I didn’t want you to be an orphan so I answered anyhow.

Now I wonder if my answer will get modded, it’s not funny really, it is just considerate!

How about where Sabine St. crosses the bayou between Memorial and Allen Pkwy, just west of downtown? There’s a bridge that overlooks that whole Sabine park/Allen’s landing green space stretching out to the west. Then you can turn around and see the last rays glinting off the tall buildings to the east.

@Harp: Wow, that sounds really nice! Thanks!
@rooeytoo: Wouldn’t the question be more likely to get a real answer if it was an orphan though?

jeez like i said I was just trying to be considerate, next time I won’t interfere!

@rooeytoo: I wasn’t trying to offend. I am honestly confused about how that’s supposed to be helpful…

Well here’s how I saw it, I would be embarrassed to have a question show up in the orphan department. Probably an indication of some mental illness that I harbor. It would make me feel like I am standing out there all alone and the whole fluther world is feeling sorry for me and going tsk tsk, so I wrote an answer to get you out of the orphan department.

But I was projecting my insecurities onto you and you obviously don’t have them, I apologize.

Now if you want to watch a sunset from anywhere, the idea is to go to the highest point you can find and look west. If there are no trees in the way you should see the sun set.
If there are a few clouds around you should see an even better one.
