Liability Insurance vs. Full Coverage?
Can someone explain to me why I would need full coverage insurance on a vehicle I have paid off? As I understand it, I would have no insurance coverage for myself if I was harmed or for my vehicle. I don’t care about the vehicle so much, and I don’t see why I would need insurance for myself when I have great medical insurance. Someone please explain! This is confusing me, and I want to make the right choice on how to lower my insurance now that I have paid my vehicle loan off.

To replace or repair your car if it’s damaged or totaled. If your car is not worth very much money the comprehensive may not be worth the expense. If it’s worth more than 4 or 5 thousand you might want to be covered. Look up the value on Kelly Blue Book and see if the cost of replacing you car is worth the expense of the insurance.
Liability covers the damage you do to someone else’s car & if they are injured & is required in a lot of states.
Collision cover damage to your car.
Comprehensive cover other damage to your car ex/ if it’s stolen or falls into the earth during an earthquake
full coverage includes all of these.
Comprehensive is usually pretty cheap but collision is more expensive. A good way to keep insurance cost low is to have higher deductible but it stinks if something happens. You can also look into cheaper co’s like infinity. The coverage & service is not as good as the other but it’s cost effective.
exactly as @kellylet says. if you car is 5 yrs old start checking what the insurance company would give you. and in alberta its often better to suck it up and pay out of pocket or your insurance premiums go way up
Not only what others have mentioned but when you pay for a higher insurance you get perks that are quite useful. Like roadside assistance. No paying immediately for tow trucks when you randomly get a flat or lock your keys in the car. In fact I’ve never been charged for having them come out and unlock my car, it’s been very helpful.
