Why did you choose the avatar you did?

I love Alice in Wonderland.
I’m incredibly OCD when it comes to icons… I like having new ones.

I change my avatar all the time, but I make sure it’s a picture of me, even if it’s a baby picture (which I have done before). I’ve never used an avatar that wasn’t a picture of me. Just policy. :)

This current picture (the avatar is a small crop of the bigger picture) was taken this June before my graduation. I just thought I had a good smile in it. I’m not the best at smiling for pictures (without making it look stupid or overdone), so when I find a good one, I take advantage of it.

I have always had a picture of my kids, I thought it was time for a change, and I like it.

It’s a picture my daughter Rachel took on my birthday in April, when she took me out to dinner at my favorite restaurant. It was with her iPhone. She said, “Hey, dad, this is the first picture I’ve ever seen that really looks like you!” So I asked her to send it to me, and I have used it on every social site ever since. (Rachel also told me she thought I had “Kind of a Mahatma thing goin’ on.” I liked that, too.)

I have had tons of them. I was using the daisy one when some of us decided to go orange to support cak in her fight against cancer.

I change my avatars from time to time, depending on my mood. Right now, I’m showing an orange jellyfish to show my support for the recovery of fellow jellie, CAK.

Because my nephew is cuter than anyone else’s nephew. haha jk

Two things I do often and love are riding my cruiser and playing poker. So, donkey on a bike.

I can’t find an avatar that I like, or don’t get bored of really fast. So previously I didn’t have one. Then I just put my name there. I guess I’ll change it to something better soon.

Firstly because I’m a Resident Evil nut,
the background is for my fragmented mind and my never ending spiral into madness.

I’ve used several, but they are all of my little Sheila, who I still miss. :-(

I wanted a warning sign of some sort, and it needed to stand out. When I saw this one it just seemed funny, so I knew it was the one. Oh, and yellow is the new black.

My avatar is the pokemon ekans. As my username is ekans, I thought that it would be appropriate to make the picture match.

Mine is a picture I took while spending a weekend with friends at the lake. I quite like my photography, though it does not get much attention from others. I use this as my avatar so I can look at it everyday and praise myself. hehe.

Mine is my people shooting hat. I shoot people in this hat. True fact.

I am crazy about Penguins that’s why I chose mine. And I have never changed it.

Mine is a picture of one of my favouritest albums – The West Pole by The Gathering, as I quite like the album cover :).

I’ve used quite a few. The one I’m using now is a bust of Winnie-the-Pooh dressed like an ancient Greek. I saw the photo on some website and thought it fit me perfectly. First, I’m greek. Second, I love honey. What could be a better avatar than a photo of another “Greek” honey-lover?
Another avatar I use quite a bit is the pixel one. It’s basically 9 squares all a different shade of the same color. I like to change the colors around a bit, but the main picture is always pixels. It’s also really easy to notice in a thread.

Up home we wear a hat like that to shoot deer in, for Chrissake. That’s a deer shooting hat.

Mine’s an animated scene from Gravity’s Rainbow. I’ve had of late a fascination with dogs and it seemed appropriately ambiguous. But now that you know what it is I have to change it again. Great.

@pdworking LOL I have another cat that would be a lap kitty except that cuddles is always there. he is a Maine Coon 22 lbs. so more a lap and chest cat.

Changed it to a crappy picture.

Because despite my relatively calm demeanor and my whimsical personality… at this point in my life.. my heart feels like it has been flogged, broken, stabbed, trampled, etc… It has been a long year.

Because I figured people were tired of looking at my face

I have/had this avatar on AV & I just brought it with me. I love little squirrels. We have a ton of them around our house that we feed.

@Blondesjon I’m a very naughty girl on the inside. On the outside I’m a 63 year old teacher who has a decevingly blank expression.

I chose my current one because it’s cute and colorful and includes a rainbow. What could be better!

I chose this because it’s a jellyfish (clearly!) but it’s a photo I took myself at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I’ve had it since my first day, and I doubt I will ever change it.

Mine is Eddie Izzard…being Eddie Izzard. He makes me giggle. And LOL. And ROFLOL.

Amoebic made it for April Fool’s day and I fell in love with it, felt it reflected a facet of my personality usually shoved to the backburner so I thought this would give me a little focus. Amoebic is awesome btw.

I had a pic of myself on, till there was a question on Fluther about who your favorite cartoon character is. I was split between Bullwinkle and Butters, and thought about how much I was like Butters when I was a child. I immediately changed my avatar.

@filmfann which sucks for us flutherers who instinctively read your answers in Butters’ voice.

They’re all pictures of wild potatoes. At first I used the wild potato plant and the plant’s flower, which looks like white morning glories with deep purple on the inside. Then I googled a bit harder and found the cute little curlicue plant/monster, which I used for a long time because I just…really like it. Then I was my Jack Skellington pumpkin for Halloween, and now I’m a new wild potato. I like this one because it reminds me to have fun with fluther; to try not to let myself get too serious with it.

I have been using this username online for a while. I used to run an online forum and I asked Patrick McEvoy if I could use some of his fantasy images as avatars. He gave his permission and I started using this phoenix image. The forum died, but I kept the image and decided to reuse it here. I’ve switched it around some, but it is back to the original because it is orange (for cak).

It is one of the reasons Fluther rocks. I was across the country and away from my computer when CAK had her surgery. I had no way to change my avatar to orange to support her but then @Blondesjon and @jonsblond offered to help me out and next thing I know I am ORANGE!

at the end of the address code, there will be “_thumb”. Delete that.

For example, @J0E‘s address (after selecting “view image”) would be:

For a while I had the Fluther assigned avatar and it seemed so boring. I had a little avatar envy. When I found this I just thought it was an interesting picture. If someday I find something more interesting or representative of me I might change it.

I change mine according to how I feel. My avatar is always me because I do that with all my avatars. I picked this one because it was different (I look rusty/moldy!), I like playing with colors, and it has orange in it for the lovely Cak. :)

This particular one is of my little Terrier, Bella. I chose it because it shows an important part of my life without being a picture of me.

I am debating whether to change my avatar from time to time but I am always worried that I have left it too long to do so and so people would have become to accustomed to this picture and not know who I was next time I asked or answered a question.

My husband @Blondesjon and I usually have avatars of famous movie, television or cartoon couples. One of our favorites was Marcy and Peppermint Patty. We have also been chocolate and peanut butter, and now we are our favorite football teams (with orange for cak).

Anyhow, mine is of my Town Dog, because I think she is beautiful. One of these days I will get a pic of me with my dogs, it is nice to know what people look like. Most do have pics in photobucket too.
