a man just paid me in hundred dollar bills for my old truck. I trust him so no sweat but I also realized I wouldn’t know what to look for

Office supply stores sell inexpensive counterfeit detector pens that can detect if a bill is printed on bogus paper. You just streak the bill with the pen, and if the pen detects wood pulp in the paper, the iodine-based ink turns black.
Higher denominations have a watermark printed into the paper. You can see a smaller face on the right hand side when you hold it up to light. Counterfeit bills do not have this.
I also noticed when I was working retail, hold it up to the light, and I believe on the left side, there should be a stripe on the inside of the bill, that should say $100. I think that stripe is on $20 and higher.
If they’ve got legs then you’ve got more problems than trying to catch them.
=) Since 90 percent of US dollar bills show traces of cocaine 1, test for that. If positive, it’s likely genuine.
If you can rub off some of the ink onto another piece of paper, it’s likely real. (Assuming this is US$, by the way.)
With a butterfly net (this is very hard to do on windy days.
i should have worded the question differently
@faye No, because then we wouldn’t have all these witty answers.
