God, one thing I love about video games is starting over. Even if I’m halfway to 75% through, I’ll start over if I think I can repeat my progress more perfectly the next time through. It’s hard to think of a game, though, since I haven’t been playing over the past couple of years. I just want to hit the reset button.
Hmmmm, this is a hard one. The first one to come to mind would be Dead Rising. I think it would be exciting to live in a world with zombies. The survival that you would face; using whatever as a weapon. I love zombies so I think it’d be really cool.
I’ll think on this some more and get back with a better answer later ;)
Some aswipes out there seem to think they are already living in the ‘Grand Theft Auto’ universe. As for me I wouldn’t want to live in any videogame because most of them are repetitive, full of flaws and scripted events. I don’t want to be the partypooper so if I have to choose it would probably something like second life where you can create some of your own content (I imagine it would be like lucid dreaming with bad graphics!).
Ratchet & Clank; imagine playing with all of those cool weapons!
I would prefer to live in 3D studio Max. But a lot of people don’t consider that a game, so I’d probably have to say Rez.
fucking Donkey Kong. Goodness I didn’t even have to think about this one. I love monkeys and bananas, I would be eternally happy.
Final Fantasy IV.
It has literally everything that is awesome:
• magic
• lasers
• crystal swords, shields, and armor
• airships
• ninjas
• spaceships
• elves who control magnetism
• tanks piloted by dwarves
• mountain-sized robots
• wizards from the moon
• the ability to summon cute animals
• the ability to summon gigantic, nuclear-blast-breathing dragons
I would like to live in Spira from “Final Fantasy X”. Everything is bright and colorful, and the average person’s problems are easily solved.
@The_Compassionate_Heretic… a lot of the times, continents or sometimes the world gets ruined/blown up in FF games. That would suck. Plus the reach and relative oppressiveness of the “Empire” varies from game to game.
I wouldn’t want to live in FF2, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, or 12. And I’ve never played 11. :)
@Qingu Ok, Spira from Final Fantasy X-2. After “Sin” was no more, Spira seemed pretty benign.
Any of the Tony Hawk skateboarding games, because I would love to skate forever and never physically get hurt.
The world of The Beatles Rockband.
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, because it would be quite an adrenaline rush trying to outrun cops!
Kingdom Hearts 2—I’d like a Gummi ship and be able to fly around to different worlds…smite Nobodies and Heartless with my keyblade…meet Disney characters…avoid Sephiroth. :P
Myst. Because it is beautiful, serene, interesting and nothing is trying to randomly kill you.
FFX-2 doesn’t exist to me.
@Dog Is that game associated with Riven?
@deni Yes, Riven is the sequel to Myst.
Ah! I LOVED Riven. I never played Myst but Riven was so interesting to me. I was kind of young when I played it and I’m still not sure what the ultimate goal was, but I remember loving everything about it, especially the little huts and weird neighborhoods you poked around in…
I’d go to some nice, indistinct western RPG world, like Tamriel from Oblivion.
I’ll second FFIV.
Lot of people think the world of Guild Wars is kind of lame but I really enjoy it sometimes. I’d also live in the Halo universe if it meant I’d be as skilled there as I am when playing.
The best though would easily be the Pokemon world. There’s like no stress, no responsibility. But there’s also no boredom because of all the competition.
@nxknxk Especially because all the people would only want to battle Pokemon only once.
@nxknxk, Pokémon’s world has legalized, extremely widespread cockfighting. Boo!
Mewtwo was RIGHT
@Drawkward Good answer, can’t believe Tamriel didn’t come to mind :P
@jsammons Granted, there aren’t any dragons or such, but you can learn to shoot lightning.
@Drawkward Well, there is one dragon for a brief 20 second in-game cinema scene :P
@Qingu
Ha, but I’d be an Ash Ketchum, not a Gary Oak. I treat my pokemanz well!
The only game I play is Snood so I guess it would be okay, as long as I could be the shooter, not the target!!!
Is it bad if I choose Fallout 3’s world in the Capital Wasteland? Power armor is bad ass and my fatboy would take out Super Mutants around.
@erichw1504 , heheheh, thank you, I do often feel deprived, I just don’t know where to start.
@PrancingUrchin Is it bad if I choose Fallout 3’s world in the Capital Wasteland?
Hell no! I felt like I was “home” in that world. We’re all set should the day ever come. Need a follower? I’ve got your six! ;)
Fable or God of war hmmmm can’t decide.
I’d only live in halo if I could superjump
EverQuest. I miss my guild mates soooo much.
@ThePeanutGallery Haha, awesome. I did have Star Paladin Cross and dogmeat but the more the merrier in the Wasteland!
@Qingu You watch your mouth. X-2 had one of the greatest real-time battle systems ever.
Also had some fantastic music (no, not the pop songs, the actual orchestral compositions).
As for me?
Hmm. Flower would be nice, but in order to fully enjoy it, I’d have to turn into wind. I don’t want to be wind.
If Versus XIII shapes up the way I hope it does, give me that world.
For an existing, released game… hmm. Mass Effect, EVE Online, Spira, Gaea (FFVII, sue me for being a fanboy. I like materia), or Final Fantasy VI.
Also, Uncharted 2, but that somewhat exists. Just, not really. You know what I mean.
Legend of Zelda: Occarina of time. It is a lush, weird and fun world.
Call of Duty 3. It was my favorite out of the series. Everyone says that they hated it but I thought it was the last of the best World War 2 games.
@PrancingUrchin That’s a great choice. I love Fallout 3! Who needs followers when you’ve got your plasma weapons? :D
Actually, now that I think of it, it might be a tossup between FF4 and Brütal Legend.
Oh, fuck yeah for Brütal Legend.
Final Fantasy VI, mostly because I love the Victorian architecture scheme that the game goes with.
That, and paying the rent by slaying wildlife or curing yourself of AID’s just by sleeping at an inn sounds swell to me.
Myst or Riven.
I grew up on those games, and the environments and scenarios are the earliest inspirations for my artistic and writing style that I can remember. Many of my dreams have obviously been influenced by those games too.
It would certainly be pleasant.
I just finished destroying Bioshock and I would love to live in Rapture. You know, before everything went to shit.
Didn’t think of that one, @Blondesjon, I probably would too. I was a Splicer for Halloween, afterall!
Me neither. I was turned off by the Big Daddy thing when I first heard about it, but I think it’s growing on me. I have faith in the developers.
I had no desire to play the first one. I’m not a FPS fan and the whole Adam/Big Daddy/Little Sister thing didn’t interest me at all. Flash forward to a bored afternoon two weekends ago. I popped the game in, just to take a peek, and 5 hours later I had to have the controller pried from my hands.
I’m intrigued to see how far Rapture has devolved in ten years and also to get a look at the newly added Big Sisters.
