You might be able to find some info here and less specific to anon there’s the old Operation Clambake site.

Now allow me to get on my soapbox. Let me preface this by saying that I dislike the Co$ as much as the next overprivileged caucasian male who spends a good portion of my time connected to the internet. Having said that I honestly believe that it is really not worth the time. Yes, they’re totally evil, yes their pronouncements of being a religion are laughable but they represent such a small portion of what is really wrong with the world. I think people are part of Anon for various reasons but the two predominant ones are: 1) they like to stir up shit and 2) they want to get behind something that will make a difference. The later is the type of person who could affect real and important change when placed with a group of like-minded people regardless of the endeavour. Its those people I wish would take stock of what is going on in the world and not what is currently on the front page of digg. Don’t get me wrong, I’d like more than anything to see them get their comeuppance but when I look around at all the things ailing this world those wacky Co$ people barely even factor in.

If you are refering to the Anti-Scientology group called Anonymous,
dude – What is WRONG WITH YOU ???
I don’t get how people can be so anti-semitic towards other peoples believes. Honestly what has scientology done to you that you want to protest against them ???

@mirza, Just to clarify: Scientologists ≠ Jews

Anonymous spawned from the forums of www.4chan.org (warning proceed with caution)

If you wish to be a member, you already are. As far as becoming actively involved, eh, not such a great idea… the problem with 4chan forums crawling out into the real world (oh god, what a thought!) is that much like any forum, it is in no way organized.

Everyone has their own idea of how to “take down” Scientology, and thus not much is actually accomplished. Aside from holding signs and submitting (failed) Denial of service attacks onto Scientology websites, no real awareness is being raised, and nothing is being done to actually deconstruct the well funded pyramid scheme what is Scientology.

So, if you truly want to help out. Get a degree in political science and help to sue the organization for human rights violations (among other things)

If you just want to have fun and be part of something, (nothing wrong with that) go buy yourself a Guy Fawkes mask, hop on 4chan and start finding people in your area that are willing to start a rally. (Be warned, you DO NOT actually want to come into contact with any active participant of 4chan)

@paulc, Just to clarify: Semites ≠ Jews

The word Semite literally means “descendant of Shem” from the Bible.

Shem was the progenitor of several nations of the Middle East, including the Arabs, Arameans, Babylonians, Carthaginians, Ethiopians, and Phoenicians, as well as the Hebrews.

@sferik, every definition of “anit-semetic” I’ve ever seen says something to the effect of “prejudice against Jews” and to be sure I looked it up: Google, dictionary dot com, Cambridge, Free Dictionary and Encarta.

Semantically, I think mirza was trying to say something along the lines of “prejudice against religion” and took “Semitic” to mean “religious” erroneously. I do, however, realize that Semites refers to people who speak Semetic language.

@paulc, I too realize the term “antisemitic” typically refers to hostility toward Jews. Since you were clarifying @mirza’s reply, I thought it might be helpful to add some more details on the origin of the term.

mirza's avatar

ok maybe i used anti-semitic in the wrong way. But what I was trying to say is “How can people be so hateful towards other people based on religion ? ”.

@mirza In several countries the Church of Scientology is considered a cult, not a religion, because of the way it abuses the trust of its members for profit.
