What is your method (preferably natural) for dealing with heartburn?
I had a little too much Sriracha in my lunch and the heartburn hit me hard while on the elliptical machine. I had a glass of ginger tea, which seems to have quelled it for the moment. I’ve also found that chewing gum relieves heartburn, but only while I’m chewing. When I stop, it seems to come back. Besides those two, I find that drinking seltzer and sometimes ginger ale works. I have relatives who swear by eating apples, carrots and even sunflower seeds to get rid of heartburn.
Despite trying to stick to the above natural methods, I have to admit that commercial stuff like Tums, Pepto Bismol, etc., work quickly and relieve heartburn more completely than the natural way.
What methods work for you? I’m in a position to try them out now, so hopefully it involves things I have in the house.
