What is the best way to record audio on a PC?

Asked by karimacherif (2points) November 15th, 2009

I am interested in recording some podcasts to embed on to a website.
I would like to be able to edit it and currently, I am using a mac and imovie to record. My client has a PC and I would like to research what is available for them to use and download. Clarity of audio, and easy interface are important considerations.

Audacity is the free and easy-to-use PC recording software.

For higher level work, there’s Cakewalk, Adobe Audition and Adobe Soundbooth. Comparison None of these options are cheap.

Sound recorder, standard with Vista. Type it in, in the search bar. ;) Free FTW.

Cakewalk is a DAW not really what your looking for unless your trying to get into production..

Adobe Audition used to be called Cool Edit Pro and may be abandon-ware now, Google Cool Edit Pro as it is good software and is far superior to Audacity..

Adobe Sound Booth is a bit wank also.

Anything Windows as a recorder sucks major ass.

If you are just going to use it for splicing & chopping tracks and sticking them on a site then id suggest something free, maybe Audacity but only if you can’t find Cool Edit Pro first..
