What was your favorite cartoon as a kid?
I think most people (of the television generation) watched cartoons or some animated program as a child. Whether you’re young enough to have watched Nickelodeon or perhaps Saturday morning cartoons, cartoons have been around for a while. So, what was your flavor?

Bugs and all the loony tunes. Especially Mugsy..
Never really liked cartoons even when I was a kid
Also, pretty much anything Walter Lantz ever made.
I loved Arthur and still love it. Also a lesser-known cartoon called Fillmore! about a middle school safety patrol that solved school-related crimes. I also liked Recess (watched that during elementary school) and of course, I am a huge Digimon fan. Those were probably my top 4.
My favorite cartoons now are The Simpsons and Family Guy.
Catdog, Angry Beavers, Arthur, Scoobydoo, The Flinstones, Hey Arnold, Spongebob Squarepants, Blinky Bill, Tabaluga, Flipper, Aaah Real Monsters, Oakie Doke, Albert the 5th Musketeer, Insektors, Fly TV, Babar, Rocko’s Modern Life, Archibald, Li’l Elvis and the Truckstoppers, George Shrinks, The Wild Thornberrys, Stickin’ Around, Potatoes and Dragons, The Big Knights…. and so many more… :P
@shrubbery George Shrinks! I forgot about that.
Hey Arnold is in my top 5, too.
Rugrats actually might be my #1.
@rangerr Wow, there are some young people that visit here. Unless of course there older and still like cartoons.
@rangerr, omg I forgot Rugrats. blasphemy :P
@OutOfTheBlue Haha, No. I’m 18.
I just asked my mom, and she said my favorite cartoon was The Yellow Submarine. We had all the episodes recorded on VHS.
I forgot about that.
@rangerr I used to love Ren & Stimpy, and i think i was around 23 or 24 then, nothing wrong with liking cartoons as an adult, i watch Family Guy and American Dad now and im over 30 hehe
Tweety Bird, Road Runner, Winnie the Pooh.
@chyna I can’t believe i forgot WInnie the Pooh!! Loved it as a very young child, i still have a old vintage wind up Pooh bear. OMG I OWN A VINTAGE TOY THAT I HAD WHEN I WAS A KID!! Im friggin vintage BWHAHAH
Courage the Cowardly Dog, Scooby Doo and almost anything Loony Tunes.
Age is only a number! My body may be 30, but my mind isn’t! My soul could very well be 100’s of years old :)
Aside from the ones listed above, HeMan and She Ra. And Super Friends.
Was there a cartoon called Lonestar? Kind of like an intergalactic sheriff
Little bear, Franklin, Rupert, Veggie Tales, Magic School Bus, Doug, Recess, Rugrats, Angry Beavers, Arthur, Hey Arnold, the list goes on. I still love all of those btw
Loony Tunes
• Foghorn Leghorn
• Bugs Bunny in drag or annoying gangsters
• “What’s Opera Doc?!” – kill da wabbit!
• SSSufferin’ SSSuckitash
...and on and on.
At least a quarter of what I know about life I learned from Bugs and the gang.
DANGER MOUSE
PINKY AND THE BRAIN
Fat Albert was my number one. The Looney Tunes were right up there too, I had a special place in my heart for Daffy Duck (“Wo-hoo, what a kiss I think I’ll do it again!”).
Scooby Do – I was so proud when I figured out that the ghost is always the person who shows them around town.
Saturday mornings were all about cartoons when I was growing up, Magilla Gorilla, Inch High Private Eye, Hong Kong Fooey, The Brady Kids., with In the News and School House Rock during commercial breaks. Different networks I know.
@oratio
Yes. Strength of the bear, eyes of the hawk, ears of the wolf, speed of the puma and all that.
Bravestarr
Superman cartoons
Mighty Mouse
anything Disney
Batman, Tail Spin, and Bonkers
Someone mentioned a Charlie Brown tree on another thread. How could I have forgotten about Peanuts!?!
I really liked cartoons that were more from my parents’ era than my own. I especially liked ones with no dialogue, that just used music and visuals to tell the story. I was always a Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies fan. Tex Avery, Chuck Jones, Fritz Freleng, Bob Clampett, Robert McKimson… Best ever. I also had a Felix the Cat tape and a Pink Panther tape that I watched until it wore out.
As a little kid I also liked things like The Wuzzles, Popples, Care Bears, DuckTales, TMNT, Scooby-Doo, Rainbow Brite, Ghostbusters, Beetlejuice, Gumby, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Pound Puppies, Rescue Rangers, TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck… And that was just in the 80s. I can’t imagine how long I could make this answer if I started going into the 90s, too.
I loved the Il était une fois…-series. French though.
@DominicX I loved watching Fillmore.
I also like watching PepperAnn, Doug, Tiny Toons, Gummy Bears, David the Gnome, and the Power Puff Girls, and Sailor Moon.
@shego “Pepper Ann, Pepper Ann, much too cool for 7th grade…”
I loved that show!
@shego Yes! I forgot about those.
Hands down, I loved the old Warner Bros. cartoons. They’re freaking fantastic and still hold up. As an older kid, I loved Ren and Stimpy.
It’s a toss-up between Thundercats, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Ducktales.
I watched more when I was older, but I’m talking strictly about shows I liked as a kid.
I’ve never seen this one and I’m sure the cartoon was corny, but this theme is really cool! Yay, Paul Frees! I have the countdown as one of my ringtones.
Speaking of corny ringtones and old TV shows, I was rocking this as my ringtone for a while.
You guys are all way too young.
@J0E That’s my text alert sound!
I also want to add Ahhhhhhh! Real Monsters
and a show that my mother watched was HR Puffin Stuff
personally I wouldn’t want to watch that show and I don’t know how my mother could watch it.
Wait, are we just talking kids shows or just cartoons? Cause I have a whole ‘nother list if we’re talking any kids shows with like puppets and people and stuff…
Bugs Bunny.
Grab a fence post, hold it tight,
Womp your partner with all your might.
Hit him in the shin, hit him in the head,
Hit him again, the critter ain’t dead.
Wop him low and wop him high,
Stick your finger in his eye.
Pretty little rhythm, pretty little sound,
Bang your heads against the ground.
Getting older exponentially by the minute, no doubt. Now where did I put that plastic bag?
Bugs Bunny…Foghorn Leghorn is my all-time favorite character :))
