Is there a cloud storage website that has drag and drop?

Asked by FreeRadical (121points) November 16th, 2009

It’s really important to me that I be able to use online storage easily, and the big question for me is if I can drag files from drives on my computer into the storage and vice versa.

Also, I’m really interested in storage on computer clouds, so one of those would be great.

I can’t spend too much money on it, but I also don’t want much space (10G would be enough).

Any suggestions?

I would just get a normal hosting account and use FTP. It is super simple once you have it set up.

Dropbox is good, and you get 2GB for free. :)
It works by synching your local folder to dropbox, so you drag and drop into your local folder, like you do normally in windows explorer or in the finder (on Mac).

I’ve been using it for more than one year, it works great and the support and team are equally great! :)

However, their smallest plan starts at 50 GB for 10$/month.

If you use a referral link, you’ll get 250MB extra for free:

I got 3 GB extra making a total of 5GB from people using my referral link. :)

There’s also mobileme that’s quite popular.
100$/year
20GB
You can have a 60 day free trial.

But it has a strange limitation: “Files that are larger than 2 GB, folders, and package files must be compressed before you can copy them to your iDisk” http://help.apple.com/mac/1/help/

1)
Microsoft’s SkyDrive 25GB free ( http://skydrive.live.com/ )
Drag and drop works with Microsoft Internet Explorer
Other browsers use the normal file browser (like the ‘Open’ dialog in most any program)

2)
Dropbox.com is really great, highly recommended. You pick a folder on your PC, it keeps the folder backed up to the cloud AND any other computer where you install Dropbox.
You can also upload & download from a web browser, so you can manage your files from any Internet-connected computer.

Both Dropbox and Ubuntu One have been working well for me. The advantage of Dropbox is that it’s multiplatform.
