Good god. Can someone help me think of what these things are called that I'm thinking of?

Asked by deni (23141points) November 16th, 2009

Basically I was telling my boyfriend that his eyes reminded me of these things but I couldn’t think of what they were called and I’ve searched a million different terms on google I thought would be relevant and might turn up what I’m looking for but I still can’t find it! Come on interweb.

Anyhow, they are these pools of water, like big puddles maybe, that are very bright colors. Like the edges of the pools are bright orange, then bright green then the rest is a clean bright blue. Maybe a few other colors thrown in there. I felt like they might have something to do with geysers, or sulfur, but I’m not finding anything. They’re really beautiful…I’ve seen photos of them in random places but now that I’m looking for one I can’t find anything.

@rangerr @deni

At a water temperature between 147 and 188°F (64–87 centigrade)?

Bring a chicken and you’ll be swimming in soup. Nice looking soup though

@RedMosquitoMM @trogdor_87 Both correct! Thank you. Finally they have A NAMEEEE.

@rangerr im willing to risk some bodily burns to swim in them, still…

@deni We can borrow some fire suits from somewhere. There’s gotta be a way, even if clothes have to be involved.

Darwin's avatar

I was thinking maybe of a blue hole.

rangerr's avatar

@Darwin broken link :(

deni's avatar

@rangerr HAHHHA…fire suits…wetsuits…beekeeping suits? astronaut suits? something must work!!!!!!

rangerr's avatar

@deni Astronaut suits are too bulky.. if we can’t be nakey, the next thing would be something spandex. Maybe a fire-proof wetsuit?

Darwin's avatar

@rangerr – It shows up for me, but here is another example of the same photo.

rangerr's avatar

@Darwin I want to swim in that too!

Darwin's avatar

@rangerr – You most certainly can – lots of folks do, and they don’t even need a fire-proof suit. Just get yourself a ticket to Belize.

Wow. If his eyes look like the geyser in @rangerr‘s link, he should see a doctor. Maybe several doctors.
