Should i cut my dreadlock off?

Asked by noodle_poodle (1617points) November 18th, 2009

I am torn about weather to cut my hair or not. I have had dreadlocks for a good 6 or 7 years and am getting a bit sick of em…trouble is i’d have no hair for a while and I cant remember what I look like without them….also I hate having to muck about with hair which is why the dreads have been ace as they always look the same and I dont have to bother (its always just wash and go)..Are there people out there who have normal hair but dont have to mess about styling it?

Post a picture and we will be able to decide.

Can you post a photo to help the collective decide?

I like dreads when they are trimmed, too

I shave my head with a size .5 comb once every week or two. It’s been working for me for a while now.

Not many can pull off that look.

I used to have dreads and cut them off drunk one night, sometimes I regret it but I guess I would have done it eventually anyway. My hair was short and tufty for a while but didn’t take long to look something like normal, maybe a week.

I pulled mine out after having them for four years. No need for cutting if the roots aren’t too locked up. It takes awhile, though – about 15 hours for my head. But I had a lot of hair left afterwards!

Sometimes I miss them. But I don’t regret taking them out – to me hair is all about change, because it always grows back. I might lock it up again one of these days. So yeah, I say go for it!

I think this man had a similiar dillema as you. Classic.
Anyways, My hair is a buzz cut and it has minimal maintenance and is appropriate for formal and informal situations. But its a tough call.

I was so excited i was like “I’m not the only one with just one dreadlock! yesss,” but then i realized you did the whole thing. It looks good by the way, and i think you should just cut them off, because like other people have said, hair grows back you can always just do it again.
