My wife recently started reading the twilight books and she really likes them. Can anyone recommend any other books that she might like? Possibly more on the adult side, but not necessarily.

What about those books does she like? Which themes speak to her the most?
The drama? The vampires? The characters? The plot? The action?
If she wants another vampire series – she should dig into Anne Rice. Say what you will, they’re still popular.
There’s always Anne Rice books…classic vampire stories(like Interview With the Vampire) but, if you’re looking for something mor along the line of Twilight-like stuff i’d recommend the House of Night series(there’s 6 books in the series right now) by P.C. and Kristin Cast. They’re about a girl who becomes a vampire and goes to “vampyre school”, they’re actually just as good as the Twilight books but in different ways and they’re pretty cheap. They can get repetetive sometimes but, I still love them. I had my 50 year-old roomate read them and she enjoyed them just as much as I did. And then there’s also this other series(3 books) called The Mortal Instruments trilogy by Cassandra Clare. They’re not just about vampires, they’re about a whole world of magical creatures, werewolves and all. Really, really good books. Oh, and if she enjoyed Stephenie Meyer’s writing, you should check her other book out…it has nothing to do with vampires and it’s more sci-fi but it’s amazingly well written and it’s intended for a more adult audience. It’s called The Host. Hope you check some of these books out! :)
If she likes Twilight, then she’ll probably like any book of Stephanie Meyer. I think (:
She should check out theSookie Stackhouse books. The first is Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris. They are modern stories that take place in the South. There are vampires, werewolves, fairies, etc. They are adult but not a whole lot of sex. There are 9 in the series. If you’ve heard of True Blooid on HBO it is based on those books.
I second the Southern Vampire Series. (Sookie Stackhouse)
However, I should note – I hated the books… and I love the show. :P
My sister loves the Twilight series, she also loved theTomorrow Series and Ellie Chronicles by John Marsden. I think there are about 7 or 8 books in the series and really interesting.
Try City of Bones by Cassandra Claire…it’s the first book in a trilogy and I guarentee your wife will love it.
@asmonet Really, you didn’t like the books? I loved them! I love True Blood too, tho. If I could only have one I’d pick the books. I almost always prefer books to movies/tv shows.
Vampire Diaries series. It has just been made into a glorious show in the CW. Super entertaining (both books and show).
Why don’t the answering people tag this as a “Great Question”. It only has one vote so far
I don’t know anything about Twilight, but I love reading and thus get excited readers. More readers = more books, bookstores and libraries for me!!
Honest question, I am curious.
It is a great question.. just tagged it! :)
@knitfroggy: Not since Twilight have I wanted to claw my eyes out and dissolve them in acid to purify them so badly. So I guess the OP’s wife will totes like them. :)
There is this series of books that kicks Twilight’s ass!
Harry Potter!
come on, you saw that coming!
Your wife is reading children’s literature. She may enjoy more children’s literature.
Anne Rice Novels are very good!
I’m fourthing Anne Rice. When I first read Interview with the Vampire, I loved it with the same intensity as the current Twilight fans. Okay, maybe not that much, but I still liked them a lot.
Anne Rice has some lovely books, Pandora and Vittorio are my personal favorites. But, she only writes religious books now.
I really like the Book Being Nikki. I heard good reviews about UGLIES but haven’t gotten to read it yet. I really liked the Eragon series. Oh, well these are good books for teens. Sorry, but I’m only a teen so I can only recommend teen books. She still might like Eragon though.
