What do flashers expect out of their activity?

I’m just multitasking by also watching tv. I’ve wondered for years. Do they expect some might bow down in worship? Is it the fear side? Are they just wanting to share? I understand of course that there is mental issues at work here but the result can’t usually meet the intent, can it?

I expect that they think about how exciting it was to be seen, later, as they’re getting their jollies with Rosie Palm and her five sisters.
Also, it may make them feel powerful, to cause a reaction. You know how some kids are bad because negative attention is better than no attention? Something like that.
I’m no expert – these are just my best guesses.
“shrugs” everyone needs a hobby
I also think it has something to do with the power they feel, while exposing themselves. They’re forcing something onto an unsuspecting person and it gives the flasher a thrill. I think that’s possibly why a lot of flashers expose themselves to children. A) it’s forced viewing B) it’s forced viewing upon those deemed completely innocent. It just adds to their weird thrill.
I also heard that a lot of rapists start out as flashers or peeping Tom’s. Not positive, but it could easily be looked up.
just to let you know they care.
If they are realistic, I would say: to be arrested. Since they’re probably not, my best guess is exhibitionism plays a big part in their sexual desire. Maybe a flasher is just an exhibitionist without a girlfriend.
@DrasticDreamer I’d suspect a rapist to be careful and hide his sexual desires from the public, however you might be on to something here. As a flasher and rapist both seem to gain pleasure from humaliating their victims and forcing themselves onto others.
@eponymoushipster We know you care, now please put away the banana.
Flashers get a rush out of exposing themselves, presumably becase they get something out of shocking others.
I’ve always assumed adrenaline was the main factor.
Followed by sexual arousal.
Maybe they like the way the wind feels on their you-know-whats.
@eponymoushipster I’m sorry, but when I see something covered in brown spots and fruit flies, I automatically assume it’s a banana.
Ugh, I’m doing so much research on this for school currently.
Most exhibitionists have a typical behavioral cycle. First is insult, the depression, restoration of self-esteem by exposing, and then shame for what they have done. (So basically shame is what drives it.)
That’s just one point of view on it. Of course there are other theories. Such as, the person having an intense sexual urge and arousal just from the fantasies involving exposing themselves to a stranger.
Then there’s the more behavioral explanation….saying that it’s learned from childhood, “when the individual was sexually aroused while displaying himself and was excited by the distress that his inappropriate behavior caused in other people.”
Sometimes some fantasize that exposing themselves will make a random woman fall madly in love with them. They are then extremely disappointed when it doesn’t work out that way.
Fresh air and more vitamin D3.
(you mean “arousal.”)
So mostly shock value. It just seems such a nothing activity , a little shock on a face, run, run away. What the hell is that? easily pleased and real dumb.
My initial reaction to this question was attention seeking. There are some deep and interesting ideas flowing here though. Very interesting.
My friends and I (around 12 years old) thought it would be fun to run around outside naked one day and proceeded to do so. Bit of a laugh, no arousal personally from me, but enjoyed the shock of others at the time in a very rebelious sort of way.
They’re excited by the reaction (shock, etc.). Other exhibitionists, like the ones who masturbate in public places, like the feeling of doing something kind of dangerous (as far as getting caught) and that excites them…
Mostly some kind of excitement.
When I was in college there was a guy running around the neighborhood. He was such a cliche type flasher, trenchcoat with nothing under, he would come upon a group of girls from school and pull open his coat. A silly friend and I went out hunting for him with a polaroid camera, we were going to give him a souvenir picture of himself. Unfortunately or perhaps fortunately, we never met up with him.
It seems common in kids but most outgrow it or I think there would be a lot more of them running around town.
People get their kicks in a lot of different ways apparently.
