What should I do in Vegas?

I’m in Vegas for the first time, and I’d love some advice on what to do (other than drink and party).
In particular:
1 – What should I do during the day? Are there any unusual things to try? Is it worth going outside of the city?
2 – Any restaurant I shoudn’t miss? Anything of the caliber of Alinea or Per Se?
3 – Any favorite shows?
Thanks!

Take a helicopter tour of Area 51. Then go back to the Strip and play blackjack.
See Blue Man Group. Then go play blackjack.
Did I say go play blackjack?
Madame Toussaud’s is a fun place to visit. And M&M World.
Also, the Hoover Dam if you are into that kind of stuff.
I’ve heard O is great. Is that the best Cirque du Soleil show to see?
Also, any particular companies to recommend for helicopter tours?
@nickbaum As regards the heli tours , just make sure to vet the crew. You DO NOT want any former Aurora pilots from Area 51 flying you around. trust me
Whatever you do in Vegas, remember It stays there
@proXXi Not if one plays well’; butyagottabefastleavin’
@nickbaum Every Cirque show is a unique showcase of various physical arts and music. It’s hard to compare them to one another in terms of better or worse. I’ve seen Dralion and Quidam, but not O. O is special because of the synchronized swimmers – they are the world’s only professional team (all others are simply competitive).
Absolutely do not miss KÀ at the MGM Grand. It is Cirque at its best.
Can I ask the thread your favorite place to stay in Vegas? I was thinking MGM?
Consider the Bellagio as well rooms, service, restaurants, shows, art, connectivities, and of course blackjack
Next time out, it will be Bellagio. I recently stayed at Mandalay Bay, but I didn’t like the location, and I had no time for the beach and wave pool. If you’re a foodie, Bellagio is a little paradise. I am not a “buffet” participant, but The Buffet at this hotel was worth breaking my own rule.
@nickbaum If you decide to indulge at The Buffet and you find a snaking, long line (it can be quite long), find the casino’s main office—it’s unmarked, but an employee will give you directions—walk in, tell them that you are encountering a long wait and you are anxious to spend some money in the casino. They might be willing to give you passes that admit you to the special-guest short-line. You’ll get in quickly.
If you can’t stay st the Bellagio, at least visit the Gallery of Fine Arts there. It’s well worth the time. There are so many “To do” sites on the internet, I suggest you just visit a few of them and choose what you like best.
When I was there this summer I saw “Love”. It was awesome. If you are a Beatles fan, I would do that. It was expensive but worth every penny. Also, Chinois (in Caesars Place—the Wolfgang Puck place) had the best Asian food ever!
We also went to the Grand Canyon while we were there (it was a drive but we are from Maryland so we weren’t sure if we would have a chance again). That was, of course, awesome.
Tour the Bellagio and the Wynn. Just walking inside them was fun.
And…of course…gamble!

I just got back from Vegas! Had a great time dancing at Studio 54 at the MGM. I’m 40 and the music was perfect! If you are much younger you would probably prefer a different club.
Also, RAO (Italian Restaurant) at Casears was fantastic!!! Penne alla vodka and chicken cacciatore was yum, and really good meatballs. And, I liked the shopping at The Forum at Caesars best of all the shopping I walked through.
The new Aria hotel at City Center is modern and beautiful.
Hoover Damn was worth going to see (the traffic backs up badly getting to the damn) interesting tour (I did the cheaper one for $11).
