I understand “sometimes” to refer to an occurrence which has happened on more than one occasion, e.g. “Sometimes I take the bus to work and sometimes I drive.”
“Sometime” is used to refer to a onetime future event: “Let’s have lunch sometime”.
They each have a different meaning.
Sometime I will play cricket means that at an unspecified time in the future you will play.
Sometimes I play cricket means that you play cricket upon occasion.
Sometime: “At some time (I think the separation is important, for clarification) the scientists decided that gravity was real.”
Vs.
Sometimes: “Sometimes when I throw an apple up in the air it hits me on the head. Sometimes it just misses my head”
Answer
“Well, at some time that (the throwing of apples, and them coming down on your head) might change, especially if we find ourselves in a 0 gravity situation.”
i agree about the separation mentioned above, but there is also an adjective “sometime” meaning “occasional” or “infrequent”, as in Vince Lombardi’s reputed aphorism, “Winning isn’t a sometime thing, it’s an all-the-time thing” (meaning that you have to work hard all the time, not merely sometimes, to be a winner.).
They are totally different and I believe that they have answered your question correctly.
