I’m 16 and just got a prescription filled for tetracycline to clear up my acne. I’ve heard many stories about people getting ireversable brown/grey stains from it. What are the facts?

no tetracycline stains are formed in utero and in forming teeth (children’s) teeth only. as you are an adult, it will not stain your teeth.
@trailsillustrated is correct. But know that tetracycline can reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills, and I think that is one of the drugs you are supposed to stay out of the sun.
Tetracycline saved my face! I was only on it for a month and my skin improved sooo much. You will be so pleased in a couple of months.
I used it for awhile, it didn’t stain my teeth….It did not work well for me when I was 16 but I tried it again at 23 and it help SO MUCH! I really think hormones play a huge factor in how effective acne medications are.
I will say though, I remember it saying I had to take it on an empty stomach so I would usually take it before work and then just eat at lunch and my stomach would sometimes hurt a bit from it, nothing serious but kind of like a burn or indigestion kind of feeling, maybe not be like that for you though. That is only thing I did not like about it is trying to fit the pill in at a time when my stomach was empty or I was not going to eat shortly…I think I just made myself sound like I eat non stop lol
