When entering a fluther do you find that the other comments influence your answer?

A couple of the fluthers I’ve attended seem to have a definate undercurrent to the thoughts and feeling expressed in the answers especially in the early stages.
So, do you feel sometimes obligated to carry on the sentiment?
Or do you say take my opinion at face value?

What do you mean by entering a fluther? Do you mean, answering a question on Fluther?
If so, yes, to some degree. I won’t bother answering if someone’s already said what i was going to say (or said it better, especially). Yet, if I have an opinion or facts that no one has brought up, especially if I suspect it will make people think about something that may have never entered their heads, I’ll bring it up. I’m contrarian like that.
Usually I look through to make sure what I was about to say hasn’t already been said. If I don’t have anything to contribute, I usually just give the person who said what I was thinking a great answer.

Do you think I’ll get moderated for that?......
I would certainly take pause at unfamiliar spelling (definite) and mixed metaphors (no undercurrents to any thought that I have) and lack of punctuation. “Or do you say, ‘Take my opinion at face value.” ’
I would never repeat a quality answer. What’s the point? And opinions are just that.
Gulp….. Its a long one!.....

Well, when I see a q for the first time, and it has 972 answers, and I don’t have two days to look through them, but I really want to answer, I’ll skip them all and have my say!
Nah. I’m far too lazy busy to bother with reading the other posts.

I’ll say something only if it’s different from what other people say, or if it builds on what other people say. Otherwise, there’s no point in repeating what others say.
Oh. Wait. Didn’t a number of people already say that?
Ok. So I’m a liar. Sue me.

I always read the other comments, and sometimes find that I misinterpreted the question, so that alters my possible answer.
Not really. I usually answer the original poster directly… but occasionally I jump into the conversation
No. i never read other peoples answers before i make a comment. my answers are original and the first thought that enters my brain.
It depends on how many comments are already there. If someone is asking, say, ‘how to clean a fridge’ (since, yes, I just answered that question (: haha) I skim over what other people say so that I don’t repeat myself. If somebody says what I was going to say, I just agree with them and encourage the person asking to use our advice.
But this is a good question, because I was just wondering the same thing!
Sometimes, I “second” an answer, if it seems that more support for that answer may be required. But I would never hesitate to answer a question if my thoughts were contrary to what others had said. At least about some subject I might know something about. And I also give great answer to those questions I think do a good job in answering the question. Sometimes, that is all I need to say.
A lot of times I don’t read the other responses before I post mine, for this very reason…
