Are Tru Religion, 7 For All Mankind and other expensive jeans REALLY that much better quality?

Obviously these jeans run pretty pricey(Sometimes $200 +) and everyone I know who wears these jeans says “well that’s because they’re of much better quality than brand “X”. So is there anyone out there who knows if they’re really THAT much better quality than say a pair from American Eagle or even Tommy Hilfiger?
