You, your kid, a basketball game - does it get any better than that?

Asked by Zen_Again (9936points) November 26th, 2009

I don’t think so.

I am so happy he is finally old enough to “hang out” with – he is kind, patient, funny and articulate – his own person – but likes me and we get along.

What a great day!

Anyone have a special parent-child story from today, or yesterday?

Yeah, it gets a lot better.

I concur.
Some of my fondest memories are times spent at basketball games with my son, or watching him in basketball games.

Bonding time with anyone is always special, but bonding time with your children is even better. Glad you had a great day Zen!

My favorite moments are spent laughing while playing a game or watching comedy with my kids. The moment my daughter actually enjoyed hiking in the woods with me was very special too.

And it was a good game – and we won – so the energy was electric and special – we’ll always have the memories and moments to reminisce in the future.

@Zen_Again I was just getting used to you as New_Zen. Why do you keep doing that?

Because he’s Irish and had that old folk song buzzing around in his head and couldn’t get rid of it.

There was an old man named Michael Finnegan,
He had whiskers on his chinnegan…etc., etc.

Then he died and had to begin again,
Poor old Michael Finnegan, begin again.

Or at least that’s what was buzzing around in my head the moment I saw his new imcarnation.

If I could do c/p on the iPhone I would post a link to someone singing it on YouTube so the rest of you could know the joy I’d having it repeatedly going round in your brain also~

@holden To know me is to love me – or rather, to recognize me is to love me, regardless of the zen name and lurve amount. I hit 3000, had 50 questions – time to reboot.

I used to love watching my daughter play basketball, but now she plays soccer and with my eyes I can’t tell which one is her from the bleachers all the way across the field. Even worse, today she is playing soccer in Dallas, and I am 400 miles away.

Now that she has a car she isn’t quite as forthcoming with her schedule because she no longer needs me to get her there, unless her car won’t start.

Enjoy it while you can!

@Darwin Well said, well said.

As Robin William’s wife said in Hook (well, the actress to the actor): now they are chasing after you for your attention; soon it will be the other way around.

I am thankful for every game, hell – word, exchanged with ‘em.
