Did you watch 'the snowman' when you were a kid?
It was on the bbc in the 80’s. A really beautiful soundtrack. Do you remember it? what were you doing when you saw it and does it make you sentimental today? It makes me think of my mum, and getting in a food fight with my brother on christmas day. What do you think of when you see ‘the snowman’?

I had the cassette and the book.
That shit scared the shit out of me.
I don’t even want to think about it.
I remember watching it when I was in second grade; all I really recall was that it was sad.
I don’t like sad stuff, so I avoid it. :P
(I figure I have enough stressors in my life without making my entertainment stressful.)
@evegrimm If you found the snowman depressing it’s probably really really good you didn’t see the next Raymond Briggs film adaption When the Wind Blows, which was about a couple slowly dieing from radiation sickness after a nuclear war starts.
@Lightlyseared, I found it sad/depressing, IIRC, because SPOILER! the snowman melts at the end, and the boy loses his friend.
Am I remembering it correctly?
Also, the piano music is sort of sad, too.
i used to have a friend that was scared of it so i only watched it once. :D
Yup. When it was shown in the US, I would’ve been about 13 or so, and I just found it meditative and lovely, if a bit sad at the end.
Plus, I wasn’t as excited about snow as the boy was. Wisconsin is very snowy in winter.
I watch it every year. It is one of my favorites. I guess when I see it, it makes me remember that there is always a friend out there, who no matter what is always there.
I have seen it a couple of times, it’s sweet and I love “We’re Walking in The Air”
I watch it every year.
It bored me as a child.
It bores me more now.
