Do you remember much about your past?
I find that I’ve forgotten a lot. I get lost in the hometown I spent most of my life in. I forget names of people I was friends with in high school, heck, I barely remember high school or any of my school at all. Even if I do take a trip down memory lane and even visit some of the old haunts, I feel like I’m observing someone else’s life instead of my own. I’m not terribly old, either, I’m 26 and I left when I was around 20. It’s kind of a weird feeling, and I don’t like it much at all.
How keen is your memory? Are you in the same boat as me, or do you remember everything in vivid detail?

If you remember anything of your past in vivid detail, it may be that you have forgotten these things because they were not important to you, and what you do remember was.
I remember much. I’m only 18, but I do remember a lot. I have a lot of photos and I have music that reminds me of certain times. (I also write specific important things in a diary-like fashion and provide as much imagery as possible). I hope that through these things I will never forget certain memories.
I find I must continually write about my past in order to remember it, but the more I do so the less accurate are my memories, and probably by the time I am your age it will be fiction (I am twenty).
Usually I block out the bad stuff and remember only the important stuff.
I remember much, and there are some things I wish I didn’t remember.
I remember much more than I do remembering my future.

I know you’re being facetious, but do you ever actually feel like you’re remembering the future? It’s only imagination but I very occasionally feel that way.
I remember a lot more than I want of some things and not enough of others. I am about a month shy of 65!
I have a pretty good memory when it comes to my past, so I remember the good and unfortunately, the bad and ugly as well. C’est la vie.
I can’t just summon up memories very well, but often something I read will bring up a memory and then I go to my journal and write it down so I won’t forget it again.
I probably remember too much.
I don’t remember anything at all, which makes it a lot of fun when my brothers or old childhood friends recount interesting stories about me.
I couldn’t write a detailed, chronological account of my life prior to the last 6 months, because well, some things I remember, others blur…and some just disappear from memory.
Having said that, I recall the big events and some that seemed minor at the time and most of the ‘frameworks’ (houses I’ve lived in, towns, schools, etc). I think I remember what’s made a difference to me and what was important to others, they remind me of (good and bad!).
I was in a RV for about a month without TV or Internet. I was snowed in. So I wrote a autobiography. It was odd. I wrote it and over time I would fill in gaps. I forgot so much that eventually came back to me.
The rough draft was about 250 pages. The full thing is around a thousand.
edit: That is using Word. The default page has 14 words per page.
I remember a lot. If I admitted what I remember to the people in my memories, they’d probably be freaked out. I know all the middle names and most of the birth months of all my elementary school classmates. I remember the phone number of a boy I “dated” from middle school through part of high school. I can remember specific things teachers and kids said in elementary school. There’s lots I’m sure I’ve forgotten, but there are so many more details I do remember. It’s particularly frustrating when I ask my mom about things and she doesn’t remember them.
Yes, a lot. Photograph collections help.
I don’t remember most of it. My SO will tell me about stuff he’s cooked me or things we’ve done together in the past five years, and these events are simply nowhere in my head. I hate it.
I remember a lot of things about my past, some of which I wish I didn’t.
I remember the fun parts.
