I’ve always seemed to notice this. It doesn’t happen all the time, but it does happen quite a bit. I have a feeling its when I drink a lot of chocolate milk in a small period of time.
I don’t really drink milk alone, but I have it with cereal and I feel fine. I also think this sickness happens with strawberry milkshake which makes me believe it could be a quantities thing.
Does anyone else have experience of drinking too much milk make you feel ill?

You might be lactose intolerant.
If he is, then he wouldn’t have made those delicious garlic balls stuffed with tomato and leicester cheese
Also, is that why you wanted to stop playing GTA?
@reacting_acid Do you mean that there are levels of lactose intolerance. ie up to a point of how much milk you have you feel ill?
I don’t think that because I can eat cereal/custard etc fine with milk but probably only have as much milk. Not really measured though.
Sounds like you are allergic to milk. In fact many people are and certain ethnic groups are more prone to it. The symptoms of it can be so mild that many of us don’t realize our intolerance.
Cheese and yogurt though are made differently than pure milk and some people with a milk intolerance can handle more complex forms of dairy. Or have milder symptoms when eating them.
Eating cereal with milk is a bit different. One reason is because you are ingesting much less milk and also it is being mixed with a complex food.
Interesting Fact: We are the only (the only or one of the only?) animal species that drinks milk past weaning.
Hmm I have talked to a friend about this and they seem to feel sick after drinking too milk milk in a short period of time as well so I am guessing this is the reason why this is happening. I guess in the future I just need to drink slower and drink less and i’ll be fine. Just a shame that the last sickness actually put me off chocolate milk :(
The same happened with me and soy milk, bro
I think so. My friend, who has lactose intolerance says she can eat cereal, but she can’t have two glasses of milk. I really dont know the details. You should talk to your doctor.
Hm, I’ve had that once when i added too much cocoa to a dish i was making. Might be because of the fat or something like that. Chocolate milk does contain quite a lot of that.. Maybe it’s just too much sugary goodness..
Of course, cocoa also has some other interesting traits.
Why bother pushing the issue…chocolate milk?… Is it worth it, really? I’m sure you will be much better off without all the sugar
@Adagio O.O Chocolate milk is totally worth it!
What is the fat content of the milk that you’re drinking? 1%? 2% Whole Milk? I’ve noticed this with certain brands of ice cream, and I think it has to do with the fat content. Very rich dairy products make me queasy.
Idk, but when I was a kid, I had two episodes after drinking the chocolate milk at school (those ½ pint cartons) where it felt like a swarm of bugs were biting the inside of my stomach.
Yea, when ever I drink it my stomach starts to hurt for no reason but when I drink plan old milk I feel fine..I wish it didn’t happen I love chocolate milk
If it hurts, stop. It could be the chocolate stuff, but I suspect the big quantity of milk. That gives some people stomach aches—even if they are not lactose intolerant. Only eat and drink what feels good to you.
@PandoraBoxx The last milk I drank when it actually made me sick was 1% milk. I usually only buy semi skimmed milk.
@Adagio true it has a lot of sugar, but having milk is also quite beneficial for the calcium. Its not chocolate milk per se, but chocolate milkshake. Ie I add some powder to a glass of milk so I actually know how much milk is in it.
@Flarlarlar Yeah that makes sense but I didn’t really think that chocolate milk was that sugary. The chocolate milk I had (on the back, including 200ml semi skimmed milk) says it has 166kcal and 3.6g of fat. Maybe its just the fact that it tastes so sweet and doesn’t really have anything else to break up the sweetness as its all the same taste.
@skfinkel I am going to reduce the amount I drink in future from now on :). But at the moment I am interested to see why it is causing this.
@RedPowerLady I just want to point out that an intolerance is not the same as a true allergy.
I became lactose intolerant in my mid-20s, but it took me forever to figure it out. The quantity consumed apparently does make a difference, as well as whether you’re eating anything else w/it. I also had mild IBS which was triggered by too much fat (among other things) so when pizza would make me sick, I thought it was only the fat. Small amounts of milk, like in my coffee, were OK. A glass of milk was definitely not OK!!!
@ccrow Yes I was referring to lactose intolerance not an allergy that causes someone true illness.
i think its a quantity/ rate of consumption thing. slow down, no one is going to take it from you =p
