Is there any way for a mobile carrier to trace "unknown calls" (i.e., no number shows up, just "unknown")?

This is driving me insane; someone keeps calling from an “unknown” number (no # shows up so I can’t do the reverse number lookup that a million webpages can “teach” me to do) and I hear absolutely nothing on the other end, not even a click. I’m wondering if it’s just a spammer, but this is really getting beyond annoying at this point. Would my cell phone carrier have any ability to trace this? Thanks.

I wish I knew. This used to happen to me all the time. I eventually had to change my number. Depending on who your cell service is through, some allow you to deny any private callers or send them straight to voicemail. Ask your carrier how. Either that or switch the private caller ringer to silent so it won’t bother you if they’re calling at late hours and disturbing your sleep. Good luck :)
I don’t answer them…....
I let them go to voice mail, where the message says “you have called from a blocked number, please unblock and try again. Messages left from a blocked number will not be returned.
Does anyone know what causes this?
@mirifique What causes what?A blocked number? Could be a few different things. In my case it was an immauture girl trying to get on my nerves. She *67 before dialing my number so it came up private caller. It could also be a company doing it, or bill collector.
@ItalianPrincess1217 Sorry, yeah, that’s what I meant. I just don’t get why they don’t say anything, and wondering if this is a spam thing that other people have had to deal with.
@mirifique Unless you have someone who might have a grudge against you, it’s probably a telemarketer or company that has an automatic dialer system that calls thousands of numbers and sometimes a representative doesn’t get to the call before the person hangs up. (I used to work in collections so I know all about this kind of crap). There’s not much you can do but block private callers or find a way to send them straight to voicemail. If it doesn’t stop, I would consider a number change. If you tell your cell company you’re being harassed they will wave the number change fee of $30.
try redirecting the calls from your mobile to another mobile and see if that removed the hidden number thing. it used to work here in spain in my town a few years ago but does not anymore.
call someone using *67 before you dial your number(like your house fone or something) and see if it comes up blocked and if it does that means the person calling you is a spammer
