[Law] How does bartering (as opposed to buying- selling) effect a drug trafficking charge?

it doesn’t it’s looked at as the same thing by the prosecutor

Well, drug trafficking is still drug trafficking. I don’t think it would be much different. In the end, you’ve still smuggled drugs into a country. Governments generally frown upon that kind of thing regardless of whether or not someone got a “deal.”
Get it? Deal? Heh.

I’m guessing taffikking (sp?) isn’t the correct term for what I’m wondering about.

@proXXi Trafficking. And what are you wondering about then?

If it’s an illegal drug I don’t think it’s going to matter how you got it or how much you paid for it. The fact of the matter is that you have it.

That’s why the law is worded to cover ”possession, buying or selling”. It doesn’t leave any loopholes.

Well, the barter system is how commerce is conducted in prison. Cigarettes and condoms are good to have as trade goods. Better to get experience before you go in.
