What should be the punishment for people who train dogs for dog fights?

I watched a show that described how they do it. It included throwing small dogs to the big dogs in a cage for the bigger dogs to learn to kill. It included the meanness to the big dogs. Makes me sick!!

I think the trainers should be thrown into the cage!!
the punishment should be that they should be turned into gladiators , slaves, fight or die, obtain freedom or die
Something so bad I don’t even have an answer for that.
They shouldn’t be allowed to play professional football again, that’s for sure.
A choke collar, a muzzle, with kibble thrown in once a day in a rancid bowl, for a few years. of course, in a puppy mill cage.
They should do a nominal jail term and then be signed to a multi-million-dollar football contract.
@pdworkin I did think of him but he was betting, not training, no??
Dip them in gravy and call them a chew toy
He organized a training cabal. He was personally responsible for hanging, drowning and electrocuting underperforming dogs. He financed the training.
Euthanasia; he’s a societal underperformer.
“Chompers! Sick balls!”
I think sick is spelled differently, but I can’t remember how
Use them for training bait, or make them fight in front of huge cheering crowds…No, wait, that’s UFC. Never mind. just shoot ‘em where they stand.
@filmfann – it is “Sic balls” as in sic ‘em, a mongrelization of “seek them”.
@pdworkin I didn’t keep up with his case. What is wrong with the world that he’s got such a life when good people don’t have enough to eat ??!!
It is quite usual for criminals and thugs to lead pleasant lives with the assistance of ordinary people around them who hope to capitalize on the situation somehow. Most major Nazis who were guilty of the worst crimes against humanity lead full, luxurious lives, sometimes, as in the case of Werner von Braun, with the complicity of the US Government.
@filmfann “Chopper. Sic balls!” -Stand By Me.
I say tie them down and let people with biting fetishes have their way with them.
om nom nom.
How about a jail sentence and a fine, like we do with rapists, thiefs and murderers?
I don’t know. I just know it needs to be more harsh than what is currently being done. A slap on the wrist doesn’t make up for what those animals were put through.
These people did unspeakable things to these dogs for months!! I think if you are like that you should just be dead.
How about we tear off their balls and shove ‘em up their ass, so the next time they have to crap, they crap all over their balls.
I’ll be the lion.
RAWRRRRRRRRR
apparently you get to serve very little time and go back to doing what you did before, and have lots of people look the other way
@rangerr I’d ask what’s gotten into you tonight, but I think I know. :D
@evil2 – Then why is everybody giving Tiger Woods such a hard time? All he did was crack up his car and give a tree a good bump. He didn’t hurt or kill anything.
More to that story!! went for coffee today with nursing buds and one insists he was/is cheating.
I’ve always believed in an eye for an eye, so how about we wound them and throw them into a cage and let someone twice their size beat the crap out of them. If they are lucky enough to survive that, we electrocute them because they are worthless.
I’d say let them be used as bait for vicious dogs or maybe wolves. Poetic justice.
Give them a taste of the same fear and torture they put those poor dogs through.
Wow, people are very unforgiving. I thought Michael Vick’s punishment was fair, and maybe even a bit excessive.
@J0E excessive? he tortured and killed dogs and that he spent a little time in prison excessive? He’s still making milllions playing ball oh poor him
He did not spend “a little time” in prison, he did two years. The NFL made an example out of him to scare other people from doing it, he was unlucky to be the one who got caught first.
two years ? wow….i didn’t know it was that long…gimme a break torture of animals and you get two years , there is no way the nfl should have let him back in, professional sports are becoming a haven for criminals , then you get someone like pete rose who is blacklisted for nothing…....... this is so screwed up
You have to look at it like unfortunately most of society does, animals are second class beings, so in that thinking two years is a big deal.
I am in no way condoning this thinking, but sadly that’s how it is.
As far as letting him back in to the NFL, I believe in second chances. Regardless of how you feel about the punishment, he did fulfill the sentence, and he deserves a second chance for that. We can’t hold people accountable for something they did forever, at some point they need an opportunity to redeem themselves.
I’m with @J0E on this one. 2 years seems fair. Hell, some sex offenders barely get 2 years. And if it was his first offense, I believe he deserves a second chance. Hopefully he learned from his mistakes and has cleaned up his act.
true enough , everyone deserves a second chance , too bad most of those dogs dont’ get that, because they are a agressive breed most would be put down….hard to be forgiving of his “mistake” when he has given those dogs a death sentence…so two years hardly feels fair
Forgiving is usually not easy.
@evil2 Believe me, I understand where you’re coming from. I own a pitbull. My fiancé and I love the breed and hate to hear of any being mistreated or abused. But like @J0E said, unfortunately society sees dogs/animals as second class beings. The punishment will never be as harsh as it would be if these awful things were done to a human.
people who fight dogs are the same people who go watch a dog fight then go home and beat their wives and kids sell drugs and rape and kill people if you can stand by and watch these animals do this your are a POS and sick person and you’re not screwed that right if you can watch dog fights. i have worked in shelters and am curently working on becoming a vet and after seeing so many fighting dogs and all the other bs that comes with there was a point where i just though they should be ban go door to door and start killing them bc it’s never going to stop and it’s just not thugs doing it i went to a city in MS where we helped on a bust with over 400 dogs and i will never forget what i saw on those tapes it made me throw up and thgis fighting ring was ran by a doctor it’s everyday people. my pits are my life it wouldn;t be the same. t
@lovemypits86 This thread doesn’t have room for assumptions that big. Just because someone is a part of one bad thing does not mean they are a part of all bad things. Do know how ridiculous it sounds to say “you watch dog fighting? Oh well you must beat your wife too”?
no i’m not gay. but to sit there and watch one thing kill another thing there is something wrong with you. so you think that a perfectly stable person can sit by and watch that? i deal with dog fighting just about everyday so i do know somewhat what i am talking about. and i don’t beat my husband i just throw stuff at him.
Are you kidding me? Thousands of people kill living things and still live “stable” lives. They’re called hunters.
Like I said in a previous comment, most humans view animals as second class beings. It’s not what someone like you wants to hear, but it’s the truth.
Who called you gay?
i know they are viewed as second class beings. i’m not neive. i’m just giving my opion. but guess you know it all right? what is your employment?
What does my employment have to do with anything?
i think i have a better understanding of dog fighting bc i have been dealing with it for the last four years. i’ve been on hundreds of bust and have seen it first hand.
I don’t have to be a vet to know how horrible dog fighting is, I’m not an idiot.
yeah. well i’m sure you haven’t seen the crap that people that work in shelters and vets see and the toll it takes on us dealing with this day to day.
all i’m trying to say is that there should be a harsh punshiment for these POS.
@lovemypits86 I have worked at a vet. I seen cases of animal abuse all the time. But just because someone hasn’t worked at a vet doesn’t mean they don’t have a clue about dog fighting or how horrible it is.
yeah well most of the time people just see the jist of it from the news. and working at a vets is completley diffrent from the crap you see come through a shelter.
“the crap you see come through a shelter.”
You sound like a pet lover. Just from that sentence. ~
yeah when you deal with dumb people every day it hardens you. i love animals more than people my 3 dogs and 2 cats are like my children. and it is messed up the crap you see in there every day
have you killed an animal before i have to do it just about everyday and i have to bc people don’t know how to treat animals and it takes a toll on a person to have to kill an amimal that doen’t deserve to die. just bc people are dumb.
I have 63 horses, 4 dogs, a cat, hamster, chicken and fish. Don’t assume we aren’t animal lovers here.
I’m not sure of the point you are trying to make… but yes, I’ve had to euthanize my pets before. I haven’t killed an animal for any reason other than to end it’s suffering, though.
@lovemypits86 Yes. I have had to put animals down. I then had to stuff them into black construction bags and put them into a freezer. But I don’t see your point. There are plenty of educated non-vet workers who are well aware of how awful animal abuse it. You really shouldn’t assume everyone who isn’t you is dumb.
i do that everyday. i don’t assume crap
@lovemypits86 Do what everyday? You seem to like the word “crap”!
i stuff animals in big black bags everday and have to decap the too.
@lovemypits86 You’re really starting to piss me off. What is the point you are trying to make?
Oddly enough it has taken me this long to realize that the pits being loved in @lovemypits86‘s name are dogs. Here I thought it was referring to arm pits.
@lovemypits86 – The vast majority of Flutherites are indeed animal lovers, and many are animal rescuers. You don’t need to convince us of the evil and prevalence of animal abuse. I have five rescued dogs and seven rescued cats myself, and I helped with the Katrina animals as well. I had a sixth rescued dog but she died of lymphoma after having only three good years with me, as opposed to six bad years at the mercy of a backyard breeder who dumped her on the street when she turned up positive for heartworm.
”and i don’t beat my husband i just throw stuff at him.” WOW.
No trolls allowed on my thread!
they should be taken to the nearest zoo, and fed to the lions, just chuck em in and lock the cages and throw away the key (until its needed for the next cruel ****er)
