Is there any war or conflict or occupation that you would sacrifice your life to defend your country?

No, but I appreciate and respect those who do defend others when idiotic people in power contribute or cause bad situations in the world.

I would defend Canada. I don’t know how much help I would be but I’d give it my all.

Yes, there is.

Sadly.

I would seriously consider fighting for the Union in the civil war.

Since someone, inevitably, must sacrifice their life for a seemingly meaningless war, I don’t see why I shouldn’t if called upon to do so.

Sure, but there are usually better options. Stubborn people get in the way. Which, of course caused the war in the first place.

Of course, there is the war for your spiritualism that only you can fight. There is the war on disease and poverty. There is a war for some one’s love that might take years to fight. There are many aspects for the term war. And all are worth fight for.

If there aren’t any wars worth fighting, then we should just let whoever wants to take our stuff and do mean things to us and to our children.

@Foolaholic I would probably be a confederate man myself. But I wouldn’t have chosen to fight.

I’ll be honest. Living in the US, my family or neighbors would not have been as risk of losing their lives since 1812. And thats what it would take for me to take up arms and kill another person. Yes, I would let Cambodians be slaughtered, millions at a time even, rather than give my life fighting to save them. Of course, a secondary reason for doing nothing is that I doubt I would have any effect.

I always felt that if my country needed me, I would be there. Of course there are extreme situations that I wouldn’t fight for my country but for the most part I am not so selfish that I would be willing to enjoy the luxuries and liberties without being willing to fight for them. I mean no one wants to die for a cause, but I can think of many I would fight for.

Taliban. Al-Qaeda. Iran if it attacks other countries.
