Is it possible for an organization to set up a facebook tool so that after people donate money the donator can share their action on their personal facebook page?

Asked by sarahclif (135points) December 2nd, 2009

I think I’ve seen this before and I suggested it to my alma mater, but they hadn’t heard of it and asked for an example, which of course I don’t have now. So if I were to donate $50 I could then have my status update be something like “__ just donated $50 to __ College.”

That’s a pretty expensive status update…

I kinda doubt Facebook would allow this, unless they got some of the profit.

Its called a “cause.” Unless you’re donating to one, no.

I’ve used causes, but I’m thinking more of the tool being on the organization’s website similar to how you can share an NYT article for example.

YouTube does something similar. When you favorite a video, it’ll update your Facebook page.

Its called AutoShare, and it works with Facebook, Twitter, and Google Reader. How it works, I don’t know. I favorite the most random videos, so I just post links instead.

Personally I’d rather not see that happen. The point of donating is not bragging about it on Facebook. At most, purpose to Facebook to alter their causes set up a bit to allow the cause admin to classify people that joined the cause. Member for those that just join it and do nothing, and Supporter or something for those that donate money or time.

It is donor. There are such applications being created now. Check out WhatGives.com.
