I have a horrible habit of listening to the same song over and over. What is your most played song and song that no matter how many times you hear it. You still love it the same you did when you first heard it. What makes you so drawn to this song? Is it a song you have listened to since you were little or a recent song that you fell in love with? Do you get stuck on just one particular song or do you play a whole album over and over?
I usually get stuck on one particular song and I have a comination of songs that I have listend to since I was little and more recent songs. My top is probably Walk Away- Ben Harper, Indifference- Pearl Jam, and Crash into Me- Dave Matthews Band

Right now, it’s “Hello Seattle” by Owl City. I just got goosebumps while listening to it earlier today. :P
Also up there is “Ignorance” by Paramore, “I’m Like a Lawyer…” by Fall Out Boy, “Best Friend” by Toy Box, and “Ika Uka” by Jenny Rom.
I don’t go by the iTunes play count, because that only counts how many times the songs finish and I don’t always listen to songs all the way to the end and in the case of a few songs, I skipped to the ending numerous times.
I’m guessing the next ones are going to be “Replay” by Iyaz and “Haven’t Met You Yet” by Michael Buble.
Right now – So Many People by Neurosonic
Overall, I guess 45 by Shinedown
Fireworks by Animal Collective I think.
Oh and probably over my entire life I have played Black- Pearl Jam the most and I still love it. Can’t believe I forgot that one! Great Answers so far Lurve to all!
I think people are struggling with the definition of “most”.
The last part of the Abbey Road album: Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End medley.
Arcade Fire- Rebellion (lies)
@Ivan People can interpret questions in different ways it is okay and it makes it interesting. :)
According to iTunes the list of most played goes as follows (I’m actually really surprised):
1— Time to pretend – MGMT (189 plays)
2— First of the gang to die – Morrisey (153 plays)
3— Viva la Vida – Coldplay (150 plays)
4— One – U2 & Mary J.Blige (148 plays)
Not what I expected….
Great question! I do this all the time. It's as if my mind is set on a loop. I've been listening to Sea Song by Doves a _lot_ lately, but I never stick with just one song. Edit: --WTFis going on with my font? How did I do that?
Valentine by IO Perry. I don’t know why. I think it’s pretty.
A few:
Smashing Pumpkins – 1979
Pinback – From Nothing to Nowhere
Frou Frou – Breathe In
Blues Traveler – Run Around
Semisonic – Closing Time
Billy Joel – Movin’ Out
Elton John and Kiki Dee – Don’t Go Breaking My Heart
@Dr_C I was shocked when I saw some of mine to but I think some of them is just songs after my favorite songs and it just continues to play. But wow 189 plays mine is nowhere near that much
Stay -Safetysuit
Unintended -Muse
Big Bang Baby -Stone Temple Pilots
I Bet It Stung -Tegan and Sara
Lasso -Phoenix
All The Right Moves -OneRepublic
Set Apart This Dream -Flyleaf
I don’t go by iTunes either.
Butterflies and Hurricanes by Muse has been, for a long time, my favourite, most played song. It gets me going every time.
According to Windows Media Player, my equal top are Caught in the Middle by Dio and Fade to Black by Metallica. Of course that is only what I play on my computer – I have been listening to the album Love Metal by H.I.M. over and over in my car recently, particularly Rip Out the Wings of a Butterfly.
Right now, iTunes says that it’s a three-way tie with the following:
Goddamn Lonely Love – Drive By Truckers
No Children – Mountain Goats
Ten Second News – Son Volt
@sjmc1989 the thing is i constantly have music on… not sure why.
currently: the Terminator 2 theme, followed by “He’s a Pirate” and “Jack Sparrow”
@ragingloli I prefer Hoist the Colours. Its such a good composition.
@Sarcasm I love comfort eagle. amazing song that stays with you forever
Yesterday and She’s Leaving Home (Beatles); The Golden Age (Beck)
Space Oddity (David Bowie); Peace Frog (Doors)
White Winter Hymnal (Fleet Foxes); GI Joe (Melvins)
Ramblin’ Man (Hank Williams); RetroVertigo (Mr. Bungle)
Old Man (Neil Young); Love in Space (Peter Thomas)
Amos Moses (Primus—Jerry Reed); Corinna (Taj Mahal)
Learnin to Live, Cold Blows the Wind, Tried and True (Ween)
Unopened – Sonata Arctica apparently according to Last.fm. Has 46 plays since 27th July 2007. Such a shame I haven’t had last.fm all my life, especially the part where I discovered Nightwish else it’ll most likely be a different song altogether.
/me goes and plays it
Lately—Let Down by Radiohead (followed closely by Paranoid Android)
But I’m an absolute sucker for Name by Goo Goo Dolls
Aretha Franklin: Until You Come Back To Me
I just plugged my Nano in to see, and the #1 top tune is:
Two Weeks – Grizzly Bear
I first heard this song in December of last year, when I saw a clip of them doing it on David Letterman from even earlier last year shortly after they wrote it.
The rest of the top 10 are old favourites:
The Groove Line – Heatwave
Ride My See-Saw – The Moody Blues
Everybody’s Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey – The Beatles
Blue Harvest – Pinback
Fuck Me Pumps – Amy Winehouse
Golden – Jill Scott
To Hell With Good Intentions – Mclusky
Come Back in Two Halves – Wire
Crazy – Gnarls Barkley
the battle of new orleans by johnny horton hahahahahahahhaha i once performed it for a large crowd at a nursing home
Rick Astley – Never Gonna Give You Up
According to iTunes: “Wake Up” – Arcade Fire
…but I had to go all the way down to 27th to find something that wasn’t Jim Gaffigan.
An acoustic version of David Bowie’s “Win” by Sunslide (Nigel Simpson).
Lately, it has been this and this. Imagine walking along here at night while those two songs are playing on your IPod. That was me last night.
@everyone Thank you for all your responses and keep them coming. I am finding a bunch of new songs for me to listen to.
@Dr_C I do too! It is so you can’t hear yourself think. At least thats why I do it
@Ivan
Ivan, I don’t know what song is my most played. I have no way of counting. I simply provided a list of the songs that I guessed were the most played (which doesn’t include any of my classical music).
Hey!
You would type in, say “Muse” (make sure that you use quotations), followed by a colon, then copy and paste the url.
So, it would be
(quotation mark)—Muse(end quote)—: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4EqjvnWfRM
Reinventing Axl Rose – Against Me!
Uh, yeah, nevermind my last post. That was actually supposed to be apart of someone’s private comments, but, was put here by accident. Durr.
@jmah: I thank you anyway!
There is another Sunslide song I’m loving but I don’t think I can share an mp3 download, it’s called, “Icarus Is A Lady”.
@J0E
Yeah, and the play count doesn’t work because there are many songs I don’t play to the end. One of my favorite songs has 10 seconds of silence at the end and I always stop it before so according to iTunes, Ive listened to it twice even though Ive listened to it many times.
The past couple of days i’ve been listening a lot to one Peter Frampton song in particular… I love that song!
Hey by The Pixies
Head Over Heels by Tears for Fears
Next month these songs will bring back some uncomfortable feeling and I’ll hardly ever listen to them for the rest of my life. This is my cycle.
Right now I’m listening to Leonard Cohen’s So Long Marianne an awful lot.
The Kill by 30 Seconds to Mars…
I love it.
Just came back from a beach walk with my pooch and played Just A Thought by Gnarls. Been playing it a lot. One of my favorite songs of all time. Yes, Kanye. Of all time.
Tik Tok-Ke$ha
Monster-Lady Gaga
The Way I Loved You-Taylor Swift
Love Drunk-Boys Like Girls
Misery Business-Paramore
Fireflies-Owl City :)
I get stuck with the a song for a long while but then a new one comes out or i find a new song and im in love with that.
A while ago it was “Hello” by Beyonce.
Now it’s “Tip of the Iceberg” by Owl City.
:3
@DominicX In iTunes there is a way to work around this if you want to skip the 10-second gap or give your favorite song its due. I’m not positive off the top of my head but I think you right-click the track (on a pc) and select “get info” -> “options” and then there should be an end time box that you can adjust so you can set when iTunes cuts it off and considers it complete.
Songs that have stuck to me are Staind ‘Outside’ because when I was pregnant with my first she loved it so it means a lot. Another is Red Hot Chili Peppers ‘Otherside’. Everyone says it is about suicide but it never meant that to me. It is a song that for no particular reason has meant a lot to me and still does. And also RCHP’s ‘Wetsand’; I love the lyrics in this song, it’s really deep.
@Webzilla I’ve always been in love with Wet Sand. I’m really really into RHCPs right now. I’ve constantly got Sir Psycho Sexy, Blood Sugar Sex Magic, and The Zephyr Song playing on my iPod.
This week?
Brother Sport by Animal Collective. It’s like if you gave hippies a couple of 808s. I wish I could link to the album version somewhere.
MCR – Helena
I don’t know why I like it so much, but it’s one of the best songs ever <3
