What food would you have to have something to drink with?

Imagine you’re at an event where someone gives you something to eat, and immediately you want to have something to drink with it. For instance, if someone handed you a box of popcorn, would that make a drink imperative? What’s the food that would make you buy a drink every time?

Popcorn. Failing that, anything salty.
Peanut butter (and jelly) sandwich.
(it’s peanut butter jelly time!)
I was just going to say, a peanut butter sandwich needs a glass of milk. Otherwise, it’s hard to get that sucker down.
To be honest, any food and my mind immediately SCREAMS:
“Drink! You need a bloody drink! This isn’t going to work without one! I’m not cooperating without fluids!”
But I get the feeling I may be somewhat alone on this front…
With popcorn, you need pop (soda.)
Cookies need milk.
Popcorn needs coke.
@Allie My husband says that popcorn needs sprite. It’s the only time he drinks it.
Any food larger than three bites. If I’m going to be eating it for more than a few seconds, I need something to drink.
For me, cookies/cake/pie/pastries need a cup of tea.
@AstroChuck Margarita!!! Or as my friends and I refer to them… Tequilaritas, since our are mostly tequila and hardly margarita mix.
For really salty foods like Chinese food or something along those lines, I definitely want a glass of ice water. Same goes for Indian food because it’s so hot. I really only drink water with food. Also, rich chocolate and pies and other strong sweet foods need water too.
ice cream
for some reason, water is a must!!
Pretty much anything that is very sweet, like most desserts.
I can’t eat without having a drink available. I take a sip of my drink every other bite of food. My fiancĂ© told me that when he was a kid his parents didn’t allow drinks at the dinner table. They claimed it was because they didn’t want him to fill up on the drink. Isn’t that cruel?!
cornbread mmmmm
I agree, pretty much every food needs a drink. The bigger question is, is this because we grew up associating certain foods with certain drinks (example- oreos and milk) or just because things like peanut butter are like cement to your mouth unless you have something to wash it down with??
I swallowed a sponge once. For some reason I needed to drink constantly for days.
Chips and soda pop :)
Actually salt makes people crave something to drink, so anything salty.
Hubby would also say sweets as he needs milk or coffee with them.
@erichw1504: Yup and it’s on it’s way to my doorstep right now.
@erichw1504: Pepperoni & Pineapple chunks with chili flakes and Parmesan. I buy Rolaids chews followed by cups of hot water until all is well ;p
@hungryhungryhortence Hot water, really? Does that work better than cold?
Oh, and pepperoni and pineapple FTW!
@erichw1504: Hot water seems to soothe better than cold but it could be in my mind that the hot water is helping to dissolve sludge and stuff.
I need a drink with all food, unless the food is very similar to a drink, like soup or a shake for instance
@hungryhungryhortence- I agree about pizza and soda. And, with me at least, pizza must be accompanied with Root Beer.
@AstroChuck: Root Beer!
Hx3 at work: Can of Root Beer + ice cream bar from between the cookie crusts of an ice cream sandwich + plastic drink thermos = Root Beer float :D glurrrrrrrrrrrrp
Anything salty: chips, saltines, peanuts, bullion cubes.
@Capt_Bloth:Bullion cubes would be solid silver or gold…not much any beverage can do for that swallowing issue.( Bouillon.)
@gailcalled Gold has a very low melting point, I find that a hot drink is perfect for washing it down.
Or food to use with the golden broth?
Potatoes. Anything with spuds needs suds of some sort. They seem to dry me out. Maybe it’s just mental.
@stevenb Totally, even potato soup needs some sort of beverage.
I don’t like eating cake without milk.
