What was the role of the Italian city states in the making of the Renaissance?

Asked by aqu1la (1points) December 5th, 2009

I’m struggling to find clear main points for how the Italian city-states really impacted on the renaissance. Any help would be appreciated.

Their main role was to do their own homework.

Rats, AC, you beat me to it.

But, in all fairness, everything old is new again.

Does Fluther.com, Google, Ebay, etc use Boolean Search String settings for searches?

Check out info on Florence, the medicis and patronage. A library is your friend

Also check out the charming and devious Borgias. A contest for cunning and slyness between the Medicis and the Borgias would probably end in a nasty tie.

And for classy writing, save “impact” for a noun and use “effect” instead for your verb.

An intersting line of thought often missed/glossed over in the west is the seminal role of Arab/Muslim states (bastions and purvayors of Greek scintific knowledge), played in transfering it to the west, via the Italian City States…
...however like everyone said, do your research. It’s part OF the learning process. Goodluck!

Italy is the birthplace of the European Renaissance. Of course cities and towns played a larger role than the countryside.

If you’re more specific in your question you’ll get better answers.

Just play Assassin’s Creed 2. You’ll learn plenty about the Medici family, and the Pazzi family. Also about Knights Templar. Also about bad movie stereotypes. Come to think of it, just start reading Dan Brown.
