I’m listening to a Live365 station that streams 60’s and 70’s music. There’s been a bunch of old favorites playing tonight: Moody Blues, Badfinger, Pink Floyd, BTO, Kosmic Blues, among other greats. The song for me that sums up the 70’s and high school is, Rambling Man. I know for some of you this is, like, present day, but for me it was 35 years ago: walking around campus, hearing the piped in music (with the station playing obviously voted in by popular vote – and not yet restricted by DMR or any other patent restrictions – bah!). This and Fleetwood Mac’s Rhiannon
What’s your favorite 70’s tune?

“I will survive” by Gloria Gaynor.
Do You Feel Like We Do? by Peter Frampton
Silly Love Songs by Paul McCartney. Death mullets, crappy pop tune, break-dancing, over produced video.
man, the 70’s sucked
“Afternoon Delight” by the Starland Vocal Band.
Four Seasons – “Oh, What A Night”
There is a line in a Pete Townsend song that, for me, perfectly captures the 1960’s-1970’s music scene.
“The incense burned away, and the stench began to rise.”
Oh my god, I’m totally bookmarking this thread and making a mix tape from the suggestions!!! Great stuff!
except for the Paul McCartney – sorry, dude, the 70’s were great if you were in the right place time at the right time – and were listening to the right music
But at least nobody mentioned the BeeGee’s yet (who really sucked with the sole exception of Stayin’ Alive)
i was a kid in the 70’s and so i listened to a lot of pop music. i didn’t get into rock until my teens, in the 80’s. for me, some songs that take me back to the 70’s are any song by Chicago, the Carpenters, Linda Ronstadt, any “classic disco” songs like KC and the Sunshine Band; Barry White, Paul McCartney and Wings, Captain and Tenille, early Elton John, Minnie Ripperton, Diana Ross, Barbara Streisand.
Specific songs i can think of (and i agree with the past answers Wildfire and Afternoon Delight) are Dream Weaver, You’re So Vain, Miracles by Jefferson Starship, Me and Mrs. Jones (mee aannd Mrs., Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones Mrs. Jones Mrs. Jones).
