Are there any psychologists on Fluther?

If so… What kind of psychologist are you, and how much money do you make? Would you be willing to talk about your career more in depth with me?

I’m in a career planning class because I still have no idea what I want to do with my life, but I was considering psychology. We’re supposed to do a job shadow, but because it’s finals and it would be practically impossible for me to shadow someone around Christmas (and also because shadowing a psychologist would be hard to do anyway), I was hoping someone here might be able to answer some questions for me. Anyone?

What sort of degree do you have? To practice you will need a SciD, to teach you will need a PhD. Or you can get a BA in Clinical Psychology and a Masters of Social Work.

I haven’t chosen yet, because I’m struggling with deciding what I want to do. I’m hoping that if I can talk to a psychologist (any kind – I’m interested in a few areas) that it might help me finally decide what I want to do. I’m definitely going for a BA, probably beyond, no matter what I choose to do, though.
