I don’t believe guests are paid to appear on the Colbert Report.

I wouldn’t think so. But I’m sure as much as colbert praises huckabee and his opinions that he is a supporter and may back him in some financial way. Just a thought though. Hahaha, I’m still a colbert ‘08 supporter. Put him in the white house!!! :)

I’m sure it is a freebie. Colbert gets content and Huckabee gets free air-time. Usually people on the late-night shows are selling a book/movie/cd/candidacy.

And if you think Colbert is in any way not mocking Republicans you are mistaken.

No. Every guest on a show like CR or the Daily Show or even Letterman gets a standard fee for appearing. It is, however, quite low. Something like $500, if memory serves. This fee is regulated by some union or other…or maybe by agreement of the networks. A fee is paid, but it’s small enough that anybody appearing on the show is doing so for publicity reasons or as a favor.

@Randy: Colbert is the master of reversal, and although he can sue Huckabee as a guest on his program to generate laughs since they’re both funny, he would never back Huckabee’s campaign.
Remember when the White House Correspondents’ Club or whatever it’s called invited Colbert to speak at the annual dinner, with Bush, his mortal enemy, in attendance? (It’s on YouTube). They truly didn’t get it that he was a POSER conservative; they thought he was a real one. They also thought he was a real news guy on tv, not a comedian. This is a must-see.

Sorry, I mistyped. Colbert probably doesn’t sue Huckabee as a guest on his program. Not to my knowledge.
I meant to type “use”, not “sue”.
