how strung out are you? not very? just sweat it out- lots of hot tea and bed. if you start puking bad, you might have to go on suboxone for awhile- depending on how strung you are, you can pretty much sweat it out at home ( 6–10 days) good luck I feel for ya ps if it’s what you mentioned above and you want to do it at home, a prescription for .5 ativan will really take the edge off, and you have to stay hydrated
You might want to get the advice of a doctor. Depending on how bad the addiction is, you may need a Detox Program. The bottom line in all this is that you have to want to stop taking the pills. Are you ready for that?
What were they for to start with? Do they also help you with emotional pain, stress or do they just make you feel relaxed?
I conquered a painkiller addiction by lowering the dose very slowly over a two week period. Good luck.
Take the least amount of the least strength stuff you’ve got over a period of weeks, lessening the amount and also increasing the spacing of hours between taking it. I pretty much did it this way alongside weekly acupuncture for a few months. The acupuncture actually relieved a lot of the physical pain from an injury that had me so angry and worn down to where I didn’t give a crap about what I was taking, mixing or whatever. It also helps for you to get some kind of support if you don’t have a friend or few you can confide in and talk to when shite hits the fan. Good luck to you.
stop taking the pills. immediately and tough it out or over a period of time.
DO NOT go cold turkey if you feel you’re addicted to pills, you chance seizures and cardiac arrest. If you have insurance through work but don’t want any trail of reports then go see a doctor on your own dime and tell them what all you take, how long you’ve been taking them and they’ll give you some suggestions for coming off and monitor you as you do.
hey everyone! just an update(=
i tried cold turkey- lasted for one day. i could barely move. i felt like complete shit. my body hurt all over. this didnt work. the next day i was doing it again.
BUT i gradually worked its way down to not even doing it everyday!
so yes. cold turkey is not thee answer.
@seventeen123: Good luck on holding it down. There will be days where you’re so excited that you have control, maybe don’t think you want the feeling from the pills anymore- watch out for those days, they’re tricky. When you get really comfortable and confident then a really horrible day or whatever can take you by surprise. Once addicted, the brain and body never forget.
I suggest a read about Baclofen, might interest you. Been reading about it for the last couple of days.
