How do you get rid of razor bumps?
Pretty self explanatory.
However, in your answers, please be sure to be clear, and if you know, tell the type of hair it worked on… i.e., thick/thin, curly/wavy/straight/nappy, etc.

Pardon my ignorance but what exactly are razor bumps?
Wait. Can you elaborate a little more? I’m confused on the actual topic here.
Razor Bumps
Thats all i could find about razor bumps. Never heard of it before.. lol
There are some pre-shave lotions that claim to help with this issue. Generally they are aimed at the African-American market. I see them where I see other shaving products. I have no idea whether or not they are efficacious.
@pjanaway oh those things, thanks for enlightening me
@pjanaway‘s link looks kind of freaky… like ingrown hairs. I always thought razor bumps were just hair follicles becoming irritated by a dull razor. If you use a sharp razor, it will cut the hairs more easily, but a dull razor or not using enough shave gel will chafe your skin. Anything you can put on your skin to soothe the itchyness and just let your skin heal will help. Aloe vera lotion, shea butter, or cortizone cream would all probably be good.
Stop shaving. That should keep you from getting razor bumps.
@Haleth Got it pretty much right. The only thing to add is that if you are shaving a new area it takes time for the skin to adjust.
Best product ever Coochy! It works on all parts of the body and all types of hair. Well worth the money.
@sjmc1989 When I worked at an adult toy store, we actually used to sell that. It had a lot of fans, from rich old ladies to one younger woman who would come in and just ask, “Y’all got the stuff?” Uhh… I’ve never tried it, because we only carried giant containers of it and I could never imagine needing that much shave gel. I like using castile soap – soap made from olive oil. It has a really nice consistency and is great for your skin.
How To Prevent them:
a) always use a sharp, clean razor
b) Don’t shave over the same area more than twice
c) Use hot water to soften the skin before shaving,
d) exfoliate before shaving
How to Treat them: (will not work immediately)
Don’t pick at or try to pop the bumps
Use tea tree oil after shaving to prevent infection
I could be wrong, but I think some razor bumps are formed from shaving against the grain of your facial hair growth. I almost always have razor bumps on my neck (particularly the right side) where the hair grows in sideways (but I shave down).
You can use an aftershave lotion or balm that targets razor bumps (found at your local pharmacy). I don’t remember the brand I used once, but I had great results. After just 2 uses, my razor bumps effectively disappeared. If I wasn’t on a tight budget, I’d be using it all the time.
Also, use cortizone cream after shaving. That’ll help heal the skin.
