What was your 'best' year in college, and why?
I’m just finishing up my first semester as a freshman (sitting on here instead of studying for my lab practical tomorrow) and wondered what was your favorite year of college? I want to know what I have to look forward to, if anything!

This year is my Senior year and my first semester is almost over. I would say this year was the best because I felt most comfortable, learned all the shortcuts and secret tunnel passages under the academic podium, and took the most challenging classes so far. It was not the best year for my GPA, but maybe next semester I will get straight A’s.
I had some fantastic Pizza my freshman year. I had some this morning too.
My first because I was blissfully unaware of the enormous debt I would amass by the time I received my summa cum laude effin’ piece of paper.
Sophomore year. Far enough through to be used to college, not far enough for things to get hard with major courses. At a junior college where I knew everyone and could get away with anything. :)
Junior year. I got to be an intern for a show I really loved.
I agree with @pdworkin that senior year is so far the best (also about to finish my first semester). I actually feel different as the oldest class here. All the underclassmen seem to worship me:) But seriously, I feel much more confident since there are no more big kids to be afraid of.
I saw your question and realized that I’ve been really happy this year. I have a solid group of friends, I’m committed to my extracurriculars and have leadership roles, I have a great apartment and I’m finally cooking for myself, and I’m done with all my annoying class requirements!
I thought sophomore year was the worst (sorry). I wasn’t sure who my real friends were, what clubs I wanted to stay in, what I wanted to major in, where I wanted to study abroad, etc. There were still so many questions. I was generally pretty unhappy that year, and missed my high school friends more than I even had freshman year. But that’s just me, you’ll be fine!
I loved my freshman year. Fresh out of the house from years of diapers, baby vomit and talking to toddlers all day, it was exhilarating. I loved being around adults and having real conversations. I gained a lot of self confidence back that year.
Hm, on the other hand, junior year was pretty great. I loved my roommate, I got together with my quartet (which has been one of the highlights of college), I learned how to properly seduce, and I got to study abroad!
None of them was perfect…
Freshman year I was in boring classes, which always gets to me. The friends I made were (mostly) superficial, and I think I knew it. I did make some friends who are still some of my best, though, and did typical fun freshman things.
Sophomore year I finally realized I wasn’t compatible with a lot of my friends and had a huuuge falling out with my roommate. Not fun. However I did have a fun little relationshipy thing with a friend the next semester, and made new friends who I got on with much better.
Junior year I finally got up the balls to ask out the girl I’d had a crush on for a year, but she was too afraid to tell anyone we were dating. Put a damper on the whole relationship, although I did fall in love.
Then the first half of senior year was then spent moping after our breakup.
I guess second semester of Senior year wins, despite being hells of stressed over completing my thesis. I was finally academically doing what I really wanted, and also socially ready to do whatever the hell I wanted. I didn’t take crap from nobody. Also I was running 2 student organizations, which tends to do good things for me for some reason. Also I finally got over my previous relationship/breakup (the best and most effective way, under someone else!) which was good. And fun!
Basically none of your years of college will be perfect, but they will all be fun in their own way. It’ll be up to you to make of them what you will. Don’t panic that “the best is over” at any point in your life, it’s a waste of time! Focus on what’s making you happy, and do more of that. Think about the one thing bringing you down, and if you can’t stop (example: a class you need for your major) than remind yourself that all things come to an end.
@avvooooooo I lied:) I realized after I pushed the button that the memories I have from the first times I got the ball rolling actually took place sophomore year. So I guess sophomore year wasn’t so bad after all!
Year 9…I got my prescription for f*ck it that year (then got my MFA)
9 years of college and you still can’t spell “fuck”?
