Do you ever think something is awesome but have nobody to share it with?

Whether it’s because your interest is really rare or weird, or people just don’t get it. It can be so fun to bond over long, in-depth conversations about the eclectic things you have in common, and know that you both just get it. Do you have any interests or hobbies that nobody seems to “get,” and want to share them? I’m not talking about… being a serial killer or anything. Although the Sandman issue, The Dollhouse, had a “cereal convention” which really freaked me out. I mean underwater basket weaving or collecting widgets, something like that. As for me, I’m really into atmospheric music like DJ Krush and Amon Tobin. I love the fusion of jazz with hip-hop or electronic music, and it’s just so relaxing to listen to. What about you guys?

Whenever I find an obscure fact or some interesting tidbit of knowledge, I used to tell everyone, but I soon realized that nobody cared at all, so now I just bask in my own knowledge. Or I share it on Fluther.
For example: The following is a grammatically correct sentence:
Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.
Yes all the time. But the other day I had left for work and was stuck in traffic and my brother called me to tell me there was a beautiful rainbow and wanted to know if I could see it also. If I hadn’t been stuck in traffic, I would have seen it too, but I was tickled that he wanted to share it with me.
People definitely do not share my interest in linguistics. When I learned that in many languages, the “i” sound (as in the word “tree”) is associated with smallness (see Italian -ini suffix, Spanish -ito, etc.) I thought that was the coolest thing ever. But I didn’t feel like anyone would care about it, so I didn’t really share it. Or that I was so excited to see Corsica on Google Street View, because that’s a place I’ve always wondered about but never seen and it’s awesome how similar in appearance it is to California.
But yeah, this happens all the time especially when it comes to linguistics and classical music—two of my biggest interests that I don’t seem to share with anyone. :(
I love old black & white Abbott and Costello movies, which were way before my time but I think are great. None of my friends get it.
@buckyboy28 I have always liked that sentence. There is something like that in Chinese, but it’s a lot simpler. “Ma ma ma ma” means “Mother hits horse.” The “ma’s” have different tones.
Of course. That’s one of the reasons I Fluther.
Anybody here interested in taxonomic relationships within the Bulimulidae?
@Ansible1 I’m 20 and love Abbott and Costello! Its a shame that most people my age don’t appreciate the time when comedy was so simple and innocent.
Me. Nobody else thinks so. :(
@buckyboy28 Cool! That’s the one. I also like the “had had had” sentence and the “and and and” sentence at the bottom of the page.
There are a lot of things that I think are great and when I start to retell them, it just sounds stupid so I keep it to myself. Some of them are “had to be there” moments. Most are “have to be me” moments…
I like shiny things and belts.
Sadly I have a hard time finding people that share my normal interests, like certain bands and singers that I like…
I absolutely love to write but I have nobody to share it with anymore. I am not in a creative writing class and my wife doesn’t like to read fiction, much less write. She to this day refuses to read anything that I have written for school.
Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles
‘nuff said.

I loooove locking myself up in my house for days, like a little holiday. With good books, magazines and food. I don’t get bored and I don’t miss seeing other people. A lot of my friends don’t understand it and ask me: are you not getting bored? Not at all, love it!
Finally thought of one. How well I’m doing in school. I get extremely excited when I make 98’s on psych tests and 99’s on anatomy lab tests. No one else shares my ethusiasm besides my mother of course. Also, no one else seems to like it when I explain the process of how their food is digesting at the moment or how they are able to move their muscles. Oh well I can fascinate myself.
